Looking Good Dead: A Roy Grace Novel 2
Looking Good Dead: A Roy Grace Novel 2 | Peter James
8 posts | 18 read | 2 to read
The second novel in the multi-million copy bestselling Roy Grace series from #1 author Peter James, winner of the 2016 Crime Writers' Association Diamond Dagger prize. Tom Bryce did what any decent person would do. But within hours of picking up the CD that had been left behind on the train seat next him, and attempting to return it to its owner, he is the sole witness to a vicious murder. Then his young family are threatened with their lives if he goes to the police. But supported by his wife, Kellie, he bravely makes a statement, to the murder enquiry team headed by Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, a man with demons of his own - including his missing wife - to contend with. And from that moment, the killing of the Bryce family becomes a mere formality - and a grisly attraction. Kellie and Tom's deaths have already been posted on the internet. You can log on and see them on a website. They are looking good dead. Praise for Looking Good Dead "James is a master plotter . . . this follow-up to Dead Simple cannot fail to thrill" Daily Mail "I couldn't put it down . . . even better than the first" Independent

A brilliant read!!! Definitely worth a read. Did take awhile to get into it. And was a little disappointed in the ending.

This is about all my brain can handle Monday through Friday - my mac ‘n cheese reads. And that‘s OK. If I‘m reading something that is not related to work or news, I‘ll call that a win. I‘m very much looking forward to this series coming to Britbox on Sunday. #SeriesRead2021

cariashley I very much relate to the Monday to Friday feeling! Great idea to read different things during the week vs the weekend, I should start doing that... 3y
MicheleinPhilly @cariashley I‘m a little mad that it took me 13-14 months to figure that out. 😬 3y
Ruthiella Excellent strategy! 3y

TrishB I hear you ❤️ I can barely keep my eyes open during the week! 3y
TheSpineView Way to go!👍📖 3y
MicheleinPhilly @TrishB Yeah, this is if I can read at all. Most days during the work week I can‘t. My brain is too wiped. Something‘s gotta give. 😕 3y
TrishB I‘ve done 12 hour days all week. So tired tonight want to 😭 nearly weekend. ❤️ 3y
MicheleinPhilly @TrishB Same. 😔 I‘m exhausted. I‘ve booked off for the first week in May so I‘m just looking forward to that. Still not going anywhere but need more than a 3-day weekend. 3y
TrishB I have a four day weekend next week. Can‘t wait 😁 3y

Really enjoying the second book in the Roy Grace series. Sadly, I‘m having a hard time to get hold of these books, but most definitely not giving up!

TrishB Love this series 👍🏻 5y
Tove_Reads @TrishB Indeed it‘s good! Brings back all my Brighton memories. Need to go back there soon! Actually, I‘ve been thinking about going to the Hay festival next year, so I guess I could do both. 5y
TrishB That would be cool 👍🏻 5y

The descriptive writing that Peter James uses prints images in your mind (not always the nicest images to see!) but it gives the book added depth and makes it stand out from other books. This book does refer back too the last book (luckily I read that one first!) but it does also recap so if you haven‘t read the first book you can catch up with the characters and what the situations are.

This is book 2 in the Roy Grace series , I am enjoying getting to know this detective. His fascination with the occult and mediums, the ongoing mystery of how /why his beloved wife Sandy disappeared.Just a trigger warning on this one , the crimes are pretty transgressive.I enjoyed the book a lot and what , he‘s up to Book 14? I think. Lots of good reading ahead.

Andrew65 I love this series! 6y
Leftcoastzen @Andrew65 You are the one who convinced me to check this series out. 6y
Andrew65 @Leftcoastzen 😊 As the series goes on, you lose the mysticism element and I think that only makes the series better. I‘m only disappointed that I will have a year to wait for the next one! So many delights ahead for you. 6y

The second in the Roy Grace and equally as good as the first. Excellent characters. A difficult, maybe even taboo, subject matter and a fast paced story. Highly recommended

I love the Roy Grace series so far - very clever and with a very likeable main character. Something so unusual as a middle-aged (well, he's 39 now) male policeman who isn't misogynistic and homophobic but actively the opposite. Nice work from Peter James!
