Drafted into the Supernatural Operations Corps in a new and dangerous world, Bookbinder finds himself in command of Forward Operating Base Frontier cut off, surrounded by monsters, and on the brink of being overrun. I don‘t know how I feel about this. His apology is based on soul searching, but I would like updates from the females who interact with him to make sure that he has changed his predatory behavior. http://mykecole.com/when-you-make-a-mistake-you-have-to-own-it/

tif The optimist in me wants to believe him and believe that he has/will change. The realist in me knows that it's far too easy for white men with social, professional and cultural privilege to continue to act like arses without even realising it or ever being called out on it. 7y
TrishB Trying not to be cynical 😔 we can but hope. 7y
Lindy Yesterday I read the 585 comments to the SLJ article and felt very sad. So many names. I hope this is part of a larger cultural shift towards ending sexual harassment. 7y

tournevis Were his apology galf as long, I'd believe it. By the mid-point he just sounded like he was trying to.convnce himself. No longer buying it. Well played, no cookie. 7y
Anna40 Whether the apology is sincere or not is one thing but apologizing for what he did IS a start AND he is not making excuses, I personally give him.credit for that. He apologizes! Only if we start accepting these apologies can a change really start to occur. We are very much at the beginning of change and we should not demonize all men and/or reject those who at least are trying to change. It's a start! 7y
Anna40 I agree with you. The next step is to see if he changes or not! 7y
Oldschool_millenial @Anna40 That's my thoughts exactly. While I'm aware that apologies can so easily just be scripted lip service, we need to find it in ourselves to believe that some WANT to change and make amends, and give them the chance for redemption. That said, yes, evidence of said change is necessary 7y
PirateJenny From what I know of Myke, I do think he will make the effort to change. He is one of the few people who has not taken umbrage when this was pointed out to him but instead taken it to heart. I do hope he continues to remember this and improve. 7y

Found this audio book at my library and had to read it. Good quick story on what could happen if magic manifested in the present day world.

Part 2 of a trilogy. The book is dedicated to J.R.R.Tolkien and I definitely got a feeling of The Two Towers when I was reading. Just like TTT, this is an in between book, taking you from part 1 to part 3. And again like TTT, it's good but not as good as the book that preceded it.

I'm BORED! This novel better pick up because the only reason I'm reading it is so that I can get to part 3 and see how the whole thing ends.

CynCruz23 Oh man this series sounds fantastic! I hope it does pick up 8y
E.H.Kern @CynCruz23 I really enjoyed part 1 and this one started out just as good but now the pace has really slowed and the plot has lost some of its direction. Keeping my fingers crossed. 8y

Started this yesterday. Second part of the Shadow Ops series. Don't let the cheesy covers fool you. These books are actually really good.
