I've said it before and I'll say it again: Emma Rous was CLEARLY inspired by VC Andrews, and I'm into it.

Tea, local bakery cookies, and my kindle overlooking the Atlantic ocean from my air bnb. Perfection.

Today‘s Prompt: RAVEN
A little off for the word RAVEN, but a good read.
Have you read this book?
Beth is a foster child that came to live with Nina and her odd family in “Raven” Hall.
We also meet an unnamed character who has come back to “Raven” Hall and is angry about the new owners.

The book was an easy read, it switched between two narrators and that's what kept things different. The story was intriguing, I enjoyed the mystery, and the way the end all came together….must read
Perfect long weekend, suspenseful reading. Rous manages multiple timelines expertly, to construct a propulsive, engaging mystery. It‘s full of generational drama, moody environments, and a creepy old house. It was a great way to spend a couple of afternoons.
I sat down to read this book tonight and I finished it in one sitting! Sooo sooo good! A great thriller that really keeps you on the edge of your seat! The twists and turns this book takes will leave breathless.
Highly recommend this book! A great book for book clubs!
Excited to have my review published in Mystery and Suspense magazine!
I enjoyed the Clue-like story, and then the twists were just unbelievable and jaw-dropping at times. I thought this was a super cool book that really made you think towards the end!
There‘s yet another snow storm coming, so I‘ll be holed up with this one today. 🤓 🛋 ❄️
The build up in thrillers where you are trying to figure out the links and connections before the author is ready to...sometimes I'm just as impatient as Gemma wanting to get on the new sofa 😉
I‘m into some super atmospheric reads of late. This one hit shelves this past week. There are multiple threads including a teen taken in at a remote estate in the Fens as a companion to the couple‘s daughter who lives there (in the 80s!) and a present-day murder mystery dinner at the same estate! So much fun!
Review is up on my blog. Check it out.

This was good - a wonderful medium mystery but it wasn‘t a super WOW for me. Sadie is a wanna-be professional actress struggling to pay rent when a job lands in her mailbox - a murder mystery at Raven Hall. Flashback to Beth who lived in There as a foster child. Beth reveals strange incidents...What darkness lurks in the dark of Raven Hall? Full review: http://scrappymags.com/2021/01/12/book-review-the-perfect-guests-by-emma-roys/
HAPPY PUB DAY!!
If you enjoy mysteries, an old house that the story was built on, and characters that are an odd sort, you will like THE PERFECT GUESTS. 5/5

A compelling read that‘s part locked-room mystery, part English manor family saga and bordering on a cozy, I had a hard time putting this first experience with the author down! The three narrators spring to life - along with the supporting characters - and the plot holds some genuine twists alongside some expected turns. I am most definitely looking forward to reading more from Rous in the future!
