Last weekend‘s park reading. This was billed as a companion to Still Lives, but I do think it‘s more a true sequel. I felt like I‘d missed a lot of the character development that took place in Still Lives. I wasn‘t totally lost, but only just.

The Smash Up is a smart and entertaining book that will resonate with so many readers! It‘s not my usual kind of read, but I thought it was utterly fantastic!
The latest in the creepy cross genre Six Stories series is out in the UK. Due out in April here in the States! The series premise is a crime podcast featuring six viewpoints about the same crime. In the case of Deity, it‘s allegations about a music icon who died in a fire. A slow burn in terms of action, but a relatively quick read.
Eliza Jane Brazier‘s debut is the latest suspense release based around true crime podcasting. This was a quick read with what‘s apparently a bit of a polarizing end 😮
I‘m into some super atmospheric reads of late. This one hit shelves this past week. There are multiple threads including a teen taken in at a remote estate in the Fens as a companion to the couple‘s daughter who lives there (in the 80s!) and a present-day murder mystery dinner at the same estate! So much fun!

pickThis quirky Christmas read finds two exes and their new partners holidaying together for the sake of the couple‘s seven year old daughter. Things go terribly awry and the trip ends with a call to emergency services—which is where the book begins.
I enjoyed this one, but it is a bit dry. Fortunately it moves rather quickly! I would love to see it as a movie 😁
pickA charming and sweet holiday twist on Groundhogs Day! I gobbled it up in one afternoon and loved every but of it!
My current read! I‘ve seen a lot of folks into Nordic Noir showing this one off in the last few months and I‘m finally reading it myself—and loving it! A detective and a blogger investigate a number of celebrity murders in this first in a new series.

I finally started the Lady Sherlock series! I hosted a virtual book club last evening with the first book.
I‘ve got work to do (on this holiday weekend) but it‘s cold and there‘s rain in the forecast, so I‘m gonna squeeze in a creepy novella!
I‘m sad the weekend is over, but hopefully the great weather will continue and I can finish this upcoming thriller in the hammock!
I love Lucy Knisley‘s work! This is her middle grade graphic novel, a story that finds a young girl living in a completely new environment and forced to make friends with her mom‘s boyfriend‘s daughters. But the friction between the very different girls soon becomes genuine friendship. It‘s sweet and fun, accompanied by Knisley‘s excellent illustrations!
This one sounds super creepy and I can‘t wait to read it! It came in this weekend from Still North, my friend‘s bookstore.
The drink is a Donga a Punch from the new Easy Tiki book. Even with a limited liquor selection, I‘ve been able to make some super fun a tiki drinks 😊
The last couple of days have been hard for me and concentrating on reading has been almost impossible. Last night I watched City of Gold and thought it was fabulous! In keeping in the spirit of that, somewhat, I‘m diving into The Best Food Writing of 2018. I so enjoyed the 2019 collection, I expect this one will be just as fun and eye opening! (And there is a Jonathan Gold piece in this collection.)
I ordered some books from some of my favorite indies. These came in today and I can‘t wait to read them! I also got sone hot sauce from Tijuana for Mother‘s Day!

Y‘all, I had to put my iced coffee in a giant cup so my kid couldn‘t see that it was topped with whipped cream. Not that I have a problem giving him whipped cream, but I‘m not giving a toddler coffee 😜
On a different note, I am really liking this first in the Joona Lina series. I read Stalker, book 5, last weekend and it was ok, but this one is WAY better IMO!

Quarantine PSA: Now might be the perfect time to dive into a new series. Connelly has a massive backlist, not to mention the fab show (new season, April 17), and crossovers between his various series. I‘d always put off starting the Bosch books because there were so many to catch up on, not anymore!
