Stuff You Should Know
Stuff You Should Know: An Incomplete Compendium of Mostly Interesting Things | Josh Clark, Chuck Bryant
6 posts | 7 read | 1 reading | 2 to read
From the duo behind the massively successful and award-winning podcast Stuff You Should Know comes an unexpected look at things you thought you knew. Josh Clark and Chuck Bryant started the podcast Stuff You Should Know back in 2008 because they were curiouscurious about the world around them, curious about what they might have missed in their formal educations, and curious to dig deeper on stuff they thought they understood. As it turns out, they aren't the only curious ones. They've since amassed a rabid fan base, making Stuff You Should Know one of the most popular podcasts in the world. Armed with their inquisitive natures and a passion for sharing, they uncover the weird, fascinating, delightful, or unexpected elements of a wide variety of topics. The pair have now taken their near-boundless "whys" and "hows" from your earbuds to the pages of a book for the first timefeaturing a completely new array of subjects that theyve long wondered about and wanted to explore. Each chapter is further embellished with snappy visual material to allow for rabbit-hole tangents and digressionsincluding charts, illustrations, sidebars, and footnotes. Follow along as the two dig into the underlying stories of everything from the origin of Murphy beds, to the history of facial hair, to the psychology of being lost. Have you ever wondered about the world around you, and wished to see the magic in everyday things? Come get curious with Stuff You Should Know. With Josh and Chuck as your guide, theres something interesting about everything (...except maybe jackhammers).

This book is based on the podcast of the same name. Hosts Josh and Chuck use a conversational tone to explore a wide range of topics with plenty of asides. Topics covered in this are as wide ranging as income taxes to demolition derbies. The history of the topics are often presented and applications for today as well. I listened to the audiobook which I think is the way to go. Read between several other titles as a palate cleanser.

mabell I have this on my shelf! I used to listen to the podcast (I don‘t listen to any podcasts anymore really) - they were very entertaining! I loved Tech Stuff with Chris and Jonathan. Fun people 😄 6mo
Chelsea.Poole @mabell same here! I am much too busy with audiobooks to listen to podcasts. And yes, they‘re fun for sure ☺️ 6mo
TheKidUpstairs I used to listen to this podcast a lot! I don't listen to it (or many other podcasts) anymore, it's all audiobooks or blasting music in my headphones to get shit done! 6mo

This was a fun collection of essays on the most random topics. They tied them nicely to their podcast shows, when applicable. Great crossover. #stuffyoushouldknowpodcast #podcastbook #joshclark #chuckbryant #nilsparker #flatironbooks #essaycollection #triviaknowledge

Book #4 of the year: “Stuff You Should Know” by Josh Clark and Chuck Bryant

Michael got this for me at Costco and it was the best gift. Every day I‘ve read it, I‘ve thanked him. It‘s 27 chapters on 27 topics, all really well researched and seasoned with bad jokes. I learned so much about Mr. Potato Head, Dr. Kevorkian, why dog feet smell like corn chips, and the history of demolition derbies. For a nerd like me, an absolutely perfect read! ❤️

A book by the cast of a Podcast. Light, but enjoyable, reading. Contains such insightful information like the history of Mr. Potato Head and Mezcal. The history of Income Tax and the Pet Rock. Topics like Donuts, Demolition Derbies, the Kamikaze‘s, Child Prodigies, etc. . Interesting stuff.

eeclayton I love this podcast! 4y
