The behind-the-scenes access of Almost Famous meets the searing revelations of #metoo in this story of a teen journalist who uncovers the scandal of the decade. Ever since seventeen-year-old Josie Wright can remember, writing has been her identity, the thing that grounds her when everything else is a garbage fire. So when she wins a contest to write a celebrity profile for Deep Focus magazine, she's equal parts excited and scared, but also ready. She's got this. Soon Josie is jetting off on a multi-city tour, rubbing elbows with sparkly celebrities, frenetic handlers, stone-faced producers, and eccentric stylists. She even finds herself catching feelings for the subject of her profile, dazzling young newcomer Marius Canet. Josie's world is expanding so rapidly, she doesn't know whether she's flying or falling. But when a young actress lets her in on a terrible secret, the answer is clear: she's in over her head. One woman's account leads to another and another. Josie wants to expose the man responsible, but she's reluctant to speak up, unsure if this is her story to tell. What if she lets down the women who have entrusted her with their stories? What if this ends her writing career before it even begins? There are so many reasons not to go ahead, but if Josie doesn't step up, who will? From the author of Full Disclosure, this is a moving testament to the #MeToo movement, and all the ways women stand up for each other. Brave, necessary, and unflinchingly real, Off the Record is an instant classic. --Marieke Nijkamp, #1 New York Times Bestselling author of This Is Where It Ends

Wow was this book great! It tackled so many issues in the world without every seeming like too much or overwhelming. Though some things were put on the back burner after the beginning, their morals continued in the rest of the book. The diversity was off the charts. I enjoyed every page of this book. My only wish was that it had done a one year later epilogue or something else so I could have gotten more closure. 5🌟

Josie wins an essay competition and now gets to write a profile on an up and coming and cute actor. It‘s all a dream until an actress on the tour lets Josie in on a secret about a very powerful man in the industry. More women agree to talk to Josie and some don‘t. Josie questions if this is her story to tell, she is a teenager after all, but if she doesn‘t, who will? And does age define your capabilities?

I loved the complex characters! Josie felt very real - real enough that I could suspend my disbelief that such a HUGE story was entrusted to such a young journalist.

This week in #audiostitching: a #metoo read that makes me keep asking: is this a story I would trust to a teenage journalist?

While this started off slow for me, and I could‘ve done without the romance, once I got to the investigation into allegations of the sexual assaults, the story really took off for me. I found myself reflecting back on Harvey Weinstein and the careers he ruined prior to people finally believing his accusers. My full review is on my blog:

Off the Record By Camyrn Garrett is about a young inspiring writer who has won a contest to do a meet and great with an up and coming young star name Marius Canet. Not only does she get to interview Marius Canet several times to get a better sense of who he is she gets to meet the whole cast of the upcoming movie he is in.

BookNightOwl A secret that has been kept hidden for years is come to light and Josie doesn't know if she should do an article about it or finish what it is she was sent out to do. I liked the story. I felt that some parts of the story were a little long and repetitive. I understood the seriousness of why this topic is important and should be talked about. B- Thank you Netgally and Random House Children's for an ARC of this book for an honest review. 4y
