Gilbert the Ghost | Guido Genechten
4 posts | 3 read | 2 to read
Bestselling children's book, from award-winning author-illustrator Guido Van Genechten, is now a BOARD BOOK! Perfect for Halloween storytime or any other time! "A little ghost unapologetically makes the most of being different....Different never looked so appealing. " - Kirkus Reviews "A sweet story about outsider friendship that is just slightly scary in places.... it's hard not to be charmed by van Genechten's smiley, rosy-cheeked ghosts, who could give Casper a run for his money in the cuteness department" - Publisher's Weekly Ghost Gilbert is a very special ghost, ever since he was little. When he goes to Ghost school, he quickly makes a lot of new friends. Gilbert always cheerfully takes part in everything. But when the Principal wants him to call "Boooooooh" just like a real ghost, all Gilbert can do is whisper a soft "Bahoo". Will Gilbert ever become a real ghost? A warm picture book about a different and special ghost, about fitting in and being true to yourself.

This is one of daughter‘s absolute favorite Halloween books. Cute story about a ghost that is kind, gentle, & doesn‘t want to be scary. #scarathon #BatBrigade

Originally published in Belgium and the Netherlands as 'Spookje Spartacus,' this rather tall picture-book is an absolute delight, pairing an engaging tale of a gentle little ghost and his unusual path through life(?) with wonderfully appealing artwork. I loved the cozy home that Gilbert and his feline friend, Meow, made for themselves.

This SF- RA book is a cute story good for Halloween time. It‘s about a little ghost named Gilbert who is not like the other ghosts and doesn‘t like being scary. He also makes an unlikely friend who helps him be himself.

Nrossi https://theresjustonemommy.com/vanishing-ghosts-halloween-activity-packing-peanu... this is a fun activity that has to do with ghosts and making them disappear! 4y

AlexRobinson This seems like SUCH a cute book!! I always love these kind of Halloween books that takes the element of “scary” away as some students just don‘t like the scary books! It also gives students a different perspective, teaches themes of bravery, emotions, and non-judgement (in this case not judging Gilbert!) and the activity you picked to go along with it is SO cute! I will be saving that link! 4y
DrSpalding Holidays are a wonderful time to incorporate quality children‘s literature. This would be considered modern fantasy rather than science fiction. The front cover certainly is engaging. 4y
