ztorres Every time I see this book it never fails that I automatically start singing the song. I have read the book but I don't own it. I am putting it in my list for books to buy for my classroom library. I think you can't never go wrong with Pete the Cat series. 4y
PatriciaS I love this book, repetitive phases, read aloud is great for literary and fluency exercises wonderful books in this series, excellent review and resources. 4y
KellyR I absolutely love Pete the Cat books and there is quite the collection of them! I enjoyed your resources, the activities were very educational and fun for the students to complete. 4y
DrSpalding Pete the cat books do not disappoint! Children in the primary grades thoroughly enjoy these books. Universal design 2.3 could work and English learner strategy two could work as well specifically if you were having the students partner read or if you used this book as a guided reading text. 4y

This HF Newberry medal book is one that I remember reading when I was younger. It follows a young Jewish girl and her family trying to escape and survive during World War 2. This would be good for IR. #ucflae3414sp21

Nrossi A map could be made following the family‘s path along with the path the Nazis took when learning about the Holocaust. A timeline could also be made. UDL 3.1 ( activate or supply background knowledge). EL 36 ( ask numerous questions which require higher level thinking responses) 4y
DrSpalding This is historical fiction at its best! Creating a timeline with critical events from World War II including Nazi occupation etc. would help students better understand this horrific event in world history. 4y

This colorful picture book shows a hot summer night in the city mixed with a power outage. The family and community come together and spend time with each other teaching people to enjoy things and be in the moment. This RF book would be good for a RA and is a Caldecott honor book. #ucflae3414sp21

Vanvlieta I really like this book! I think activating background knowledge could promote discussion prior to reading. Students could bounce off one another‘s comments about a time when power was lost & they had to play boardgames with their family or find some other game to play(we love text to self connections!). Great review!🙌🏼 4y
DrSpalding Several of your peers selected this award winner as well. Reading is fundamental is a quality resource you should continue to use throughout the program and as a support when you take over a classroom of your own. Better job of explaining/connecting the universal design and English learner strategy to your resource and teaching strategy. 4y

Throughout the story he‘s trying to avoid being slaughtered by the farmer and gets a lot of help from his friends. This is a Newberry award book and would be well used in LC.

DrSpalding Your scholastic resource is excellent. I believe this book should be in every elementary school. Whether you choose to read it aloud or offer it as a book club option, this is high-quality children‘s literature that students should experience. 4y

AlexRobinson This seems like SUCH a cute book!! I always love these kind of Halloween books that takes the element of “scary” away as some students just don‘t like the scary books! It also gives students a different perspective, teaches themes of bravery, emotions, and non-judgement (in this case not judging Gilbert!) and the activity you picked to go along with it is SO cute! I will be saving that link! 4y
DrSpalding Holidays are a wonderful time to incorporate quality children‘s literature. This would be considered modern fantasy rather than science fiction. The front cover certainly is engaging. 4y
