Wealthy couple drunkenly ditch their car and a strange tow truck driver regales them with off-putting stories, stories relating strangely to their personal lives. With short fiction by Stephen Graham Jones (Mongrels, Mapping the Interior, The Only Good Indians), Philip Fracassi (Behold the Void, Sacculina), and Renee Miller (Cats Like Cream, The One You Feed).

I liked how there was one meta-narrative story that linked different stories together and it was easy to switch from a story to another one.

The first one wasn't my thing, it was just strange and didn't make me feel something. But luckily stories went better and the second one was enjoyable. And the last one was awesome and definitely my favorite.

#SeriesRead2021 @TheSpineView

Catching up on some reviews today...

First is this great short story collection that starts the Rewind or Die series. The setup in this book involves three stories by three different authors, and the interesting part is that the stories are told within a story. A couple's car breaks down and the tow truck driver proceeds to tell them the stories as he's driving them.

I really enjoyed this creepy collection.

Addison_Reads #BlameItonLitsy @Reggie your reviews of this series are why I finally decided to try it out. 😀 I hope your reading slump gets better soon. 3y

Reggie Oh my gosh, I really enjoyed SGJ‘s story in here but the one about the woman falling in love with the back of the head of her husband really got to me in that grass isn‘t always greener on the other side kinda way. Glad you liked this. You‘ll love #‘s 2-7. 3y

Hoping back to the first novella after reading Cirque Berserk earlier this month and this is a great tone-setter, I think. It's WILD and also feels like an anthology film, or a format expanding Tales from the Crypt. I liked Stephen Graham Jones's story best, but all were fine to quite good!

khooliha The middle story feels very cisnormative to me, but most stories of one gender doing something to the *deep sigh* only other gender do. It's been on my mind lately. 4y

On the way home from a party, a couple crashes their car in a ditch. Lucky for them a tow truck driving past stops for them. The driver, he looks a little like Frankenstein‘s monster. Then the driver tells them 3 stories that sound a little familiar to them:
1. A teenager finds doom in picking his future off a paper fortune origami.
2. A male chauvinist pig wakes up after 7 years in a coma to find women rule the world.
3. A woman falls in 👇🏼

Reggie love with the face appearing at the back of her boring husband‘s head. These stories and the one that frames them were a decent read. #1 in the Rewind or Die novellas series. (edited) 4y

Reggie @BarbaraBB lol, thanks, 🖤🖤🖤 4y
Reggie @Cathythoughts I really liked the 3rd story because while the husband is asleep she starts having an affair with the face growing out of the back of the husbands head. So much so that they decide to kill the husband. So she suffocated him, but the guy living in the back survives. And next thing you know the back of the head guy starts to whisper to the back of her head when he thinks she is asleep. It‘s a very the grass isn‘t always greener 👇🏼 4y
Reggie on the other side kinda story. Lol 4y
Reggie @CoverToCoverGirl if that‘s the guy who wants to give me a ride somewhere I‘d just have to pass. He‘s the guy who picks the couple up in the book. 4y
Reggie @NikkiM5 I hope you like it! 4y

I think I‘m gonna be spending my foreseeable future with the horror novella series Rewind or Die. So I started at #1 today which includes this short story by Stephen Graham Jones that has this poor high school kid with purple hair picking his way off a paper fortune teller into a cosmic hell. I love Stephen Graham Jones....🖤🖤🖤
