This was a great break from Booker reading! Engaging, entertaining, and interesting history and mystery (of sorts?) about rare egg collectors and thieves. Loved it.

This was definitely a #BlameitonLitsy pick - thank you to @sarahbarnes for your review which put this delight on my radar!

JamieArc Interestingly, Bauer had a nominee on the Longlist a few years ago. I‘m forgetting the title, but I really liked it. 5d
JamieArc I think it was this one 5d
TheKidUpstairs @JamieArc I'll have to check it out. This was my first time reading her stuff, and I really enjoyed it! 5d
BarbaraBB I haven‘t read this one but remember @sarahbarnes review made me want to. I did read Snap though and it was really good! 4d
squirrelbrain I just read this before I saw the author at the Crimewriting Festival a few weeks ago -great review! 4d

Thanks for posting, @julesG. A quick, but funny read. I was able to find it on Hoopla, took me 15-20 minutes to go through. I've included a sample of the hilarious, but most likely very effective, burns that you can use to deflate the stereotypical “alpha“ male.

AmyG I just put this on hold. I look forward to practicing what I learn. 3w

julesG It's a fun read. Now I need to find an alpha to try the phrases on 😜 3w
ChaoticMissAdventures I follow Kyle on Tiktok his delivery of these lines make them extra mean. I love it! 🤣 3w

Thank you for the tip @ChaoticMissAdventures ! None of my libraries had a copy but I was really pleased to see my local brick and mortar Barnes and Nobel had a stack of copies. 👍 #BlameitonLitsy

ChaoticMissAdventures I hope you enjoy it!! St James says it is one of her biggest influences, and it is a Trans cult classic. A bit grittier than Woodworking but so good, and historically an important book in Trans writing. If you want more context on all that this is a great article https://www.them.us/story/imogen-binnie-nevada-reissue-interview 1mo
Ruthiella @ChaoticMissAdventures Thank you for the link! I will check it out. 👍 1mo

This is such a #BlameItOnLitsy or rather blame it on @JulesG 😉

After reading Sanguen Daemonis I really, really needed something light and funny. And this is exactly that. I had so much fun reading this book, I just kept on laughing. Loved how the authors play with the fantasy stereotypes. It's exactly what I needed and I'm glad there's more of it (because I don't think the world will change any time soon).

julesG Happy to see you enjoyed it. 1mo

#weekendreads

Really loving the tagged book which is one of my #Roll100 picks for July.

Getting back on track with #DoorstopKristen

The third title is a #BlameitonLitsy spontaneous read.

ChaoticMissAdventures I really loved Empire too! It felt really layered and fresh. 1mo
Ruthiella @ChaoticMissAdventures It‘s giving me Ann Leckie Imperial Radch vibes, a trilogy I loved . 1mo
Lesliereadsalot Ooh…a Hugo Award winner! I loved Imperial Radch, will have to read this one, 1mo

Ruthiella @Lesliereadsalot It has a similar complexity in its depiction of culture and diplomacy. Which would be too slow for some readers, but I enjoy it. 1mo
Centique Oh im so glad you‘re enjoying it! Yes reminded me of Ann Leckie too 😍 1mo
Ruthiella @Centique I really like being immersed in a complex SciFi world like this. 😊 1mo

The author explains her commitment to unpacking the found photograph detailing the murder (at first glance) of a young boy & a woman, both Jewish in Miropol, Ukraine, 10/13/1941. @Amiable Thank you so much for reviewing this! Once I read your review I knew i had to read it. #blameitonlitsy #antifabookclub #readingispolitical #overcomingevilempires

ncsufoxes Lawmakers should have this as required reading, maybe they‘d have better insights into what many people in the US face 2mo

TheBookgeekFrau @ncsufoxes Agreed!!! Though part of me thinks they either wouldn't believe, or are laughing even louder all the way to the bank. 2mo
KadaGul During grad school, I read and wrote a paper about "Evicted," which explores the housing issues in some struggling neighborhoods in Milwaukee. I really enjoyed the research process and put lots of effort into making the information engaging and interesting. The author pours his heart into the writing, which makes the topic hit home even harder! 2mo
TheBookgeekFrau @KadaGul He really does! I've added Evicted to my wish list. 2mo
