Pickpick

These unsettling short stories in comics format make visible the vague fears we have about existence, especially in our childhood years. Dakota McFadzean‘s expressive art is printed in black, white & salmon pink. The pink skies & trees (and skin growths, monsters & aliens) accentuate the eeriness. #canadian #graphicnovels #comics

We didn‘t have Scholastic book fairs at my school, but I recognize the associated nostalgia when I come across references to them.

Come-read-with-me Scholastic book fairs were the best! Every month you would get a little catalog so you could choose what you wanted to read. I would choose all of the books and then my parents would talk me off of that ledge! I still want all of the books! 3y
Lindy @Come-read-with-me 😁yes! All the books! 3y
AlaMich The day when the teacher had the box of orders to distribute was like Christmas every single month! I work in a school now and the parents can order online and have it shipped directly to them. Not the same... 3y
Lindy @AlaMich I can imagine the excitement! On the plus side, any kids who want but can‘t afford books don‘t have to watch others get some. 🤷‍♀️ 3y
