Amaia Salazar, a young detective from the north of Spain, has joined a group of trainees at the FBI Academy in Virginia. FBI agent Aloisius Dupree is already well acquainted with Amaia's skills, her intuition, and her ability to understand evil. He now needs her help in hunting an elusive serial killer dubbed "the Composer." From New Jersey to Oklahoma to Texas, the Composer's victims are entire families annihilated in the chaos of natural disasters, their bodies posed with chilling purpose amid the ruins. Dupree and Amaia follow his trail to New Orleans and the clock is ticking.

#FallTreasures

Two recently published reads that I did book tours for and thought were excellent. Each is a #LesserKnownBook that deserves some more love and hype. I‘ll tag Deer Season below.

#FallTreasures

To be honest, I usually avoid most books #over500pages (except for big cookbooks) 😉 as I am a moody reader & my attention span prefers shorter books. I think my last official finishing of a chunkster over 500 pages was East of Eden back in 2019 for a #buddyread

I do want to give a shout out to the tagged book I recently read because it‘s close at 496 pages & so good that I hardly noticed how long it was! It needs more love.❤️

Eggs Lovely covers!! 3y

Pickpick

Reviewed recently on book tour, a young female Assistant Inspector in Spain (with a traumatic childhood) gets involved with the FBI, profiling a case where a serial killer murders families during natural disasters. Prequel to the author's bestselling Spanish Baztán trilogy (Netflix made those into a trio of films that I‘m going to stream soon), Amaia Salazar is a great character & it was easy to root for her. I liked the darkness of the story. ⬇️

DebinHawaii …Set during Hurricane Katrina, the horrific reality of the suffering was tough to read but compelling & the bits of Spanish and Creole folklore woven in were interesting. It's not a perfect book-the dialogue gets a bit clunky, possibly due to the translation & some characters fall into crime fiction tropes, but overall, I really enjoyed it. With a deconstructed Shrimp Po‘ Boy with Remoulade Dressing for my bookish dish. Review/recipe link ⬇️ 3y

I ran an errand yesterday that took me dangerously close to a favorite Japanese bakery so breakfast today is a croquette pan (roll with potato croquettes inside) & a lilikoi melon pan (passion fruit flavored roll) & tea (not shown). The heart shape of the lilikoi pan matches the title of my current read for book tour this week. I‘m about 1/3 of the way in this one & I‘m enjoying it-serial killer, profiling, Italian female MC helping the FBI…😱
