I have to say that this man and his words here, were pretty advanced in equality for the time (1856). I would‘ve liked to have seen more explored but this was worth the read. We needed more mxn like him then, and we need them now. Not to speak for us, but to speak alongside with us. Because, feminism is for everyone. Onward!

An interesting essay about the place of women in society- which is very progressive and liberal given the context of its writing. As such it‘s best read keeping this context in mind. The style is somewhat dated and the structure was a bit repetitive. On the whole an interesting read.

DocBrown Good for you for taking on one of the classics! 6y

MariettaSG Not sure what to think of this... 6y
ClairesReads @MariettaSG I think you need to read it contextually- this essay was first published in 1869... 6y

As the #readathon wears on, I'm jumping around more, but still reading a lot of nonfiction and social commentary. By the end I'm sure I'll switch to short stories and lighter fiction! Loving this for now though! I discovered it through listening to A Little History of Philosophy! #philosophy #serialreader #nonfiction
