Daughter of the Morning Star
Daughter of the Morning Star: A Longmire Mystery | Craig Johnson
6 posts | 4 read
A new novel in the beloved New York Times bestselling Longmire series. When Lolo Long's niece Jaya begins receiving death threats, Tribal Police Chief Long calls on Absaroka County Sheriff Walt Longmire along with Henry Standing Bear as lethal backup. Jaya "Longshot" Long is the phenom of the Lame Deer Lady Stars High School basketball team and is following in the steps of her older sister, who disappeared a year previously, a victim of the scourge of missing Native Woman in Indian Country. Lolo hopes that having Longmire involved might draw some public attention to the girl's plight, but with this maneuver she also inadvertently places the good sheriff in a one-on-one with the deadliest adversary he has ever faced in both this world and the next.

Ellery Adams broke my heart with the ending of “Killer Characters,” so I‘m hoping that my dude Craig Johnson doesn‘t skewer me with any surprises in this one. 😒 My heart won‘t be able to take it. #daughterofthemorningstar #craigjohnson #waltlongmire #sherifflongmire #victoriamoretti #henrystandingbear

I got overly optimistic about what I could read this holiday weekend. I had a packed weekend-road trip with dad on Friday, work on Saturday, chili at mom's on Sunday-and I didn't get much reading done. I'm hoping to put a dent in the tagged book this evening because there's no World Series tonight.
We shall see.
Thanks @Andrew65 for hosting!

Andrew65 Wow, that is a busy weekend. Hope you had a great time. 2y

I can easily say that this is my favorite book series in every way: the strong sense of place; the solid, respectable, intelligent, complex, humorous characters; the interesting and intense plots; the excellent writing. I love it all. There are no weak links here. *I hated the Netflix series. Maybe if the television versions of Walt and Henry had even half of the strength of integrity and friendship as in the books, I coulda sucked it up. Easy 5⭐️
