Love, Lists, and Fancy Ships | Sarah Grunder Ruiz

Sometimes a yacht, a bold bucket list, and a kiss with a handsome stranger are all a person needs to dive into the deep end of life. For the last year, yacht stewardess Jo Walker has been attempting to complete a bucket list of thirty things she wants to accomplish by her thirtieth birthday. Jo has almost everything she's ever wanted, including a condo on the beach (though she's the youngest resident by several decades) and an exciting job (albeit below deck) that lets her travel the world. Jo is on track until the death of her nephew turns her life upside down, and the list falls by the wayside. But when her two nieces show up unannounced with plans to stay the summer, they discover her list and insist on helping Jo finish it. Though the remaining eight items (which include running a marathon, visiting ten countries, and sleeping in a castle) seem impossible to complete in twelve weeks, Jo takes on the challenge. When she summons the courage to complete item number five--kiss a stranger--and meets Alex Hayes, all bets are off. As her feelings for Alex intensify and Jo's inability to confront difficult emotions about her family complicates her relationships, she must learn to quit playing it safe with her heart before she loses what matters most.

Finished this a few days ago and liked it so much, I jumped right into book 2 of the series. Loved the setting on a fancy yacht that fancy people can rent. The behind the scenes perspective was fun and the characters a delight! #BookspinBingo

I basically read this entire book today…. So many tears, smiles, and heartwarming moments. This slow-burn romance also deals with quite a bit of tragedy and grief which I didn‘t expect. Really looking forward to reading the next book (and not only because I‘ve already accidentally read the third book!)

Ok, I read another romance, but only because I requested it from the library a while ago. I didn‘t hate it, but it was not a right book for me, though a lot of moments were sweet and I liked that the friendship was priority. But it was also very even, and slow burn romance remained so. But again, I think I just should pause reading contemporary romance for a while.

Cute premise and the reader is great.

Update: went on too long and I lost interest in the characters. It was an audiobook and I had puttering and driving to do so I finished it. 😁

Back on litsy to gush about my best friend's book finally being out in the world 💕

If a heartwarming Below Deck-inspired women's fiction/romance hybrid that focuses on family, love, and finding joy in the face of grief sounds good to you then you'll want to get your hands on this one!

This is a fun read that is half "women's fiction" (ie: Jo has her own issues and relationships that aren't romantic) and half romance. It would have made a great beach read if it came out a bit earlier in the year! #romantsy
