I saw this recommended on Booktok and I read it in a book slump. I had low expectations but it was a really entertaining queer historical paranormal (?) mystery romance. I was so surprised and delighted to find this. My only issue was that it seems to actually be a spin-off series and I was confused by some of the characters in the beginning. Rather than being a problem, I am now going to read the other series!
@TheAromaofBooks This is my June #bookspinbingo card!
Allie Therin creates fabulous characters who bounce off each other like nobody‘s business, and this jerk/marshmallow spinoff from her Magic In Manhattan series is a stellar showcase for her talent. Wesley and Sebastian are dynamic, lemme-see-more-of-you people on their own, and once they meet the book becomes impossible to put down. I loved it and dearly hope she‘ll return to this setting, and her wider cast of characters, again.
I‘ve finally got a good, long stretch of time to spend with PROPER SCOUNDRELS, which is absolutely wonderful so far. It‘s got me grinning and gasping and bouncing all around in delight.
I plan to nurse this delicious dry hopped sour while I read. It‘s a Jam Up the Mash by Collective Arts Brewing out of Hamilton, ON. The can features a photo by Ukrainian artist Karina Falkor.
I woke up in a 1920s mood and promptly altered my reading plans in favour of PROPER SCOUNDRELS. It‘s the penultimate book on La TBR (!!!!!) and I kind of wish I hadn‘t started it over breakfast because I want to WALLOW IN IT and I CAN‘T. 😭
Tonight, book. Tonight.
