Two excellent books completed in December!

I loved my journey through classical music—many composers highlighted in this volume are modern day—and spent my evenings listening to each piece.

The Flight Portfolio was so wonderfully written, and it took me months after #SundayBuddyRead discussed it to read the book. This is not a fast-paced novel but rather one that deserves lots of time to slowly read. #12BooksOf2024

Andrew65 Thanks for playing along, it‘s been great seeing everyone‘s books. Hope to see you on the First day of Christmas later this year for #12Booksof2025. 👏👏👏😊🎉🥳 2w
Librarybelle Thanks for hosting, @Andrew65 ! 2w
Andrew65 @Librarybelle Thanks, I love hosting this each year but best not think how many books it‘s added to my TBR 🙈 2w

Pickpick

Please do yourself a favor and find this companion to The Year of Wonder, a daily encounter with classical music. Once again Burton-Hill takes the reader on a daily journey through classical music, with many composers in this collection from contemporary times. I loved every minute of this collection.

When you read the intro, Burton-Hill‘s persistence in writing this while overcoming a medical emergency is remarkable.

A wonderful collection!

For #TuesdayTunes , I‘d like to highlight one of my current reads, which is a follow up to Burton-Hill‘s amazing Year of Wonder. Burton-Hill focuses on a classical music piece each day of the year…you can find playlists of each month on Spotify. In this volume, she has so far showcased quite a number of contemporary classical composers, which has been so fun to listen to and just shows classical music has not gone away.

Librarybelle Not book related, but I‘m binging Only Murders in the Building on Hulu and am on Season 3. I cannot get Steve Martin‘s “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It” out of my head… https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Piv19tK4lH4 11mo
TheBookHippie I love classical music. 11mo

Librarybelle @jlhammar I‘m just about to listen to today‘s piece! And yes…so sad I have just two more episodes of OMITB. They need to film and drop Season 4 asap! 11mo
Deblovestoread I‘m doing the first book this year and am loving it. Love Only Murders, too. 11mo
Librarybelle @Deblovestoread These books are wonderful! Only Murders is hilarious! 11mo
TieDyeDude So cool! I don't usually put much effort into learning about contemporary composers, but when the mood hits, I can go deep. I love the idea of this book. I wish I had a job where I could listen to music... 11mo
Librarybelle @TieDyeDude It‘s a nice bite size look at composers, both from today and of course Beethoven and Mozart. I like listening at the end of the day…a perfect way to wind down the day. 11mo
