Monster Friends
Monster Friends: (A Graphic Novel) | Kaeti Vandorn
11 posts | 4 read
Two friends: one big, one little. One old, one young. One grumpy, one cheerful. Both: MONSTERS! From the author of Crabapple Trouble comes a sweet and fun-filled chapter-book graphic novel, with a charming cast of adorable monsters. Reggie's plan is to spend the whole summer brooding over his latest adventure gone wrong. But his friendly and curious neighbor, Emily, won't let him sit alone and unhappy in his house forever! Despite their differences, these two monsters make the perfect pair of explorers. And with a map to make, a beach party to plan, and a sea monster to find, Reggie will have to learn to talk about his feelings and let new friends in! With bright, gorgeous art by Kaeti Vandorn, Monster Friends features the cutest, fuzziest monsters you've ever seen.

this story has colored speech bubbles, it is the origin of a comic, it‘s mostly blue, white, pink

This is for 4-8 year olds which is a great way to expose them young to a different kind of literature. It is fun, silly, and has cool graphics. It also has small speech bubbles and high-frequency/sight words which is great for emerging readers.

Reggie and Emily tag team adventures all summer. They both have different personalities which makes you think things will go terribly wrong, but they make the best adventure team.

this book would be good for students who are just starting to read, there aren‘t a lot of words in each speech bubble (maybe two-three words most of the time) and i really loved the color choices. it was all pastel blues and pinks and greens so i really enjoyed it

Nelnjali What a comfy place to read. I love that chair! It looks like it was pulled straight from a picture book. 2y
