A victim killed by a hit and run driver who, witnesses say, looked just like him? A premise guaranteed to catch my interest. There were many side roads and dead ends in this story but it all unraveled nicely in the end. I enjoyed the backstory of the main character as it gave insight into her responses and attitudes to the fraternity system. Top marks from me.

Reecaspieces I enjoyed this one too. 11mo

Set in Athens, Georgia, a University of GA student gets hit by a car. Witnesses say the driver was smiling and he looked just like the victim. 😳

A college kid is killed in a hit and run by someone who was smiling and looked just like him. When Marlet and her colleagues investigate, questions about his frat come up immediately. Much of this was an entertaining listen, and I appreciate the attempt at depth in the main character, but by the end it was a bit of a muddle.

Massive thank you to @thegirlwiththelibrarybag for this lovely surprise gift. There was no need to do this and I am overwhelmed with your generosity.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag You‘re welcome 😊 glad it arrived safely (even tho the chocolate is probably a bit melted). I always feel bad when packages don‘t arrive by the time they are meant to - so hopefully this helps to ease any disappointment. Happy New Year 🎉 (edited) 1y

I happened across this book at the library and I‘m so glad I decided to check it out. I really enjoyed it and I‘m really hoping that it will become a series because I feel like there is so much more to learn about the main characters!

MyNamesParadise I came across this book at Barnes & Noble and didn‘t buy it, but was wondering what others thought about it. I‘ll check it out from the library! 1y

Average. I enjoyed it but didn‘t love it. I‘m on board with going after the college Greek system but there were so many stereotypes that even this frat hating girl was rolling my eyes at times. Some of the reactions from her colleagues made no sense to me to a point that I flipped back to make sure I hadn‘t missed a chapter. It‘s good for a quick dose of mystery but I doubt I‘ll remember it a year from now.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was hooked from the premise - a student is killed on campus in a hit-and-run, and witnesses agree that the driver looked exactly like the victim… and he was smiling. I work at a large university similar to the one in this book, which made it feel especially eerie to me. It‘s a twisty police procedural with cutting commentary on Greek life and systems of power. 🎧
