This was a fun one with an interesting premise! However I found myself getting more frustrated than immersed. The MC was a little more clueless than necessary. I got the vibe it wanted to be strong independent woman and felt more Lifetime Halloween Special :/

I wouldn‘t discourage anyone because it was fun overall! But I probably wouldn‘t pick it up for the shelf.

A refreshing blend of magical realism and mystery/thriller centered around brujeria, other cultural Magick, and being haunted by past trauma. The characters were complex and frustrating, yet at times relatable. Who can you really trust in life; can you even trust yourself? If you don't mind unlikeable characters, this is a great fall #witchy read full of culture! 4⭐️. #pop23 features 2 languages. The #audio was nicely done and lots of food refs!

I still have no idea what‘s going on in this book, it‘s like a fever dream. But plenty of beautiful, relatable quotes!

I should definitely be going to sleep, but I just started this book for a Fable book club and I‘m so intrigued. I went into it blind not knowing it was a #witchy read perfect for Fall reading and Litsy events!

Really loved this dark mysterious book filled with magick. Kind of weird but I couldn‘t stop reading

I‘ve read 3 books back to back where I‘ve hated the main character so much I wanted to DNF the whole book. The storylines had so much potential but I didn‘t care, I don‘t want to listen to this person talk any more. I‘m scared for the next one🤷🏾‍♀️

I was looking forward to reading a Chicana power book mixed with brujería but instead I read a book with a main character that I was not too fond of. Eva had too many issues. What irked me most was that she did not show signs of guilt for her actions especially against her husband. The way she quickly turned on people was baffling. Yet, I couldn't stop reading. It was like I couldn't turn away from watching a wreck. 3 ⭐️

This story was really hard to follow, but an interesting ‘whodunit‘ filled with magick, bruja, superstition, hallucination, and the way memories can change and confuse us over time.

This is a beautiful book. I was pulled in by the murder mystery and almost dnf it because a new character by the end-although they weren‘t really a new character…. It‘s worth the read.
