Pike especially can see straight to the truth of someone & is full of honour.
pickBk8 in the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series is my favourite so far. This one gives you a lot of Pikes story, his childhood plus his years as a cop. It's also a love letter to Los Angeles, you can tell just how much Crais loves the city in his writing. A former girlfriend of Pike is found murdered & it starts a series of events that culminate with Pike on the run for murder & Elvis charged with aiding & abetting. A wild ride from start to finish.5⭐️
pickThis is the 8th book in the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series, and it is by far the best. Crais moves away from the usual wisecracking from Cole and into the relationships, old and new, and the backgrounds of characters and has a fully formed novel of emotional depth. This book would be hard to top.

I've learnt more about Los Angeles reading their stories than I ever learnt in geography. When I first started reading Bosch, I used to have an atlas open at the city so I had an idea of what he was describing. These days it's Google maps.🌉
