The Breakfast Club meets The Usual Suspects in this riveting YA mystery told entirely through the first-person police interviews of four teens over the course of several hours that asks: what happened at Salvation Creek? An influencer, an over achiever, a heartthrob, an outcast, and a conspiracy theorist go into the woods for a camping trip at Salvation Creek. Sometime around midnight, one of them vanishes. Now, the four who came back are under suspicion, and they each have a very different story to tell about the events of the night. With one of them missing, and the clock ticking, why would they lie? Who is hiding what? And what dark truths will their lies reveal?

The story of Maylee's disappearance from a camping trip is told through first person, police interviews as each friend (Petra, John, Abigail and Nolan ) is questioned about the night she disappeared. The story unfolds in a unique way, with each person remembering the night slightly differently. One day read- I had to know how this turned out and I was not disappointed. Very good YA novel.

5 friends go camping in the woods. One of those friends goes missing. Each of the four remaining friends has a different story for the cops. What happened to the missing girl. I loved how the story was set up. I‘ve never read anything like it before and it was so neat. I was on the edge of my seat constantly. If you love mysteries you‘ll love this book.

3½⭐
A rather formulaic plot but told in an interesting format…one that I‘m not sure how I feel about. It was weird the way you only heard the police interviewer ask one question and the rest of the time the characters being interviewed supplied what was being asked by answering in full sentences. It made it feel like everyone was guilty…which I suppose is what the author was going for…

This novel is told through police interviews when a teenager goes missing during a camping trip. There were enough twists to keep it interesting without going completely crazy. Briefly deals how we “remember” certain events and the impact of social media. I enjoyed most of the book, but the ending fell a little flat for me. 4 stars.

On paper this book should have been right in my wheelhouse but I struggled from nearly the beginning. Nothing worked for me. It didn't feel real or authentic.
It would be highly unlikely that 5 teens would talk so conversationally to the police. The author needed to get the background and story out but this all felt forced.

I want to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read the Kindle ARC edition in exchange for an honest opinion

The way I didn't see a single one of these plot twists coming, my God. What a tragedy. What beautifully complicated characters. This was good, y'all. #yalit #yathriller
