Still working on March but April #bookspin is ready to go!
@TheAromaofBooks
I loved this book by debut author Jain. It was topical, timely and felt so real - race and class relations, 1st and 2nd generation immigrant experiences, friendship, divorce, mental illness, moral quandary.
Multiple POVs were complex and well developed. The compelling plot line was revealed all throughout the book which allowed the reader time to think and come to his/her own conclusions.
Thank you to William Morrow & NetGalley for the eArc.
I really enjoyed this show and really enjoyed the audio all these years later.
March #bookspin. This has been on my shelf for years. Finally time to give it and the author a try.
@TheAromaofBooks
I did it!! I finished. This was A LOT! I definitely made the right choice in listening on audio from Libby and leaving my 1st edition neatly closed on the shelf. I love listening to himโฃ๏ธ
Dec 2022 #bookspin finally completed
@TheAromaofBooks
What a lovely nostalgic trip down memory lane, but boy do I wish it was edited better.
I'm nearly 1/4 into January 's #bookspin and liking it a lot. I recently read Netflix is releasing as a limited series in 2023.
@TheAromaofBooks
December #bookspin is a fave author...and President!
I do Obama's books on audio because I like hearing him read them.

Almost a full year of spinning as I only joined Litsy in 2022 and missed January. This group of book lovers is awesome and these lists are so much fun!!

I'm on a roll the past 3 months with great #bookspin picks. October is from my favorite series - Longmire. Boy howdy!Howdy!!
@TheAromaofBooks
September #bookspin tagged and done. Gary Larson's comics are so enjoyably odd!!
Now time to go back to August's The Turner House which I'm finding a bit slow.

The Locked Room was the 14th installment in this series but it was the first for me. I was not a huge fan and in seeing the other reviews, clearly in the minority.
It was just an ok read for me. It takes place at the start of the pandemic and I felt like Covid overshadowed the mystery plot(s).
Thank you to William Morrow and NetGalley for an advance eKindle addition in exchange for an honest review.
August #bookspin karma
I had already decided to take this with me on a very quick getaway next week. Perfect timing!

This is how August #bookspin looks when you realize you've already read one. That kind of week!๐คช๐คฃ
@TheAromaofBooks
July #bookspin finished. This book and whole series is so special. Smart, funny and adorable. Sure to make you smile!
@TheAromaofBooks
I loved this. It was just what I needed...slightly quirky, beautifully illustrated and hopeful!
Three Things I know are true about this book:
1) It is topical
2) It is heart breaking
3) It is hopeful
Nicely done YA in verse dealing with an accidental shooting.
July #bookspin
This book is the perfect one for me at this moment.
They always make me smile!
@TheAromaofBooks
June #bookspin was a win!
What a well done historical MG novel that was based on the author's father's experience. I cried sad and happy tears throughout as this boy immigrated to the US alone at the start of Castro's reign.
@TheAromaofBooks
May #Bookspin success!
3 5 rounded up for hopefulness.
This book was sweet (no pun intended) while dealing with issues of racism, poverty, divorce and familial discord. It was based on the author's life - the son of "Famous Amos', taking place in the 70s LA. My one critique was it felt a tad long for the age group.
Thank you to Little Brown YR for the ARC.
@TheAromaofBooks
This was a fun, easy read...as long as you suspend belief a bit as is typically needed in thrillers. It revolves around The Innocence Project and does a deep dive into moral dilemmas thematically.
I never read McTiernan before but did buy The Ruin after I finished this : )
Thank you to William Morrow & NetGalley for an eARC.
This novel just did not click for me. Botswana was underutilized, the characters were unlikable, the pacing was slow, the final reveal was unsurprising.
It was my 2nd โlocked roomโ thriller that I didn't love, although the other did the locked room parts well (Reprieve). This one dragged and became repetitive.
May #Bookspin
I love making these lists๐
@TheAromaofBooks
April #Bookspin success!
My 3rd spin was finally a good one.
Caledon Books sent this sometime at the beginning of the pandemic and it got lost in a pile till last month. I usually prefer audio for nonfiction but this was a fast read highlighting the gay men victims' lives rather than the serial killer.

#wondrouswednesday catch up
1. In the past few years i have found that I just love the Craig Johnson Longmire Series. They are my go-to if I want great writing, a great cast of characters in the beautifully described setting of Wyoming.
2. Being with book people that just want to discuss all things bookish.
3. The tagged book. I loved A Gentleman In Moscow and can't wait to get to this one.
Thanks for the tag @Eggs
I did the audio version. Nothing new here but a lovely walk down memory lane.
#Bookspin April 2022
April is here!! Can't wait to see what gets picked. March was so so and Feb may be DNF๐
@TheAromaofBooks
This was pure entertainment. Unique and quirky characters with an action packed plot. So enjoyable!
Beautiful in every single way - the words, the illustrations, the tone, the message....everything!
"Sometimes the first step towards change is closing our eyes, taking a breath, and imagining a different way." - from the author's note. โค
This book was like a big hug. The illustrations were everything.
Boy Howdy
Reading The Serpent's Tooth, A Little Life, Big Panda and Little Dragon and listening to Dopesick.
