American Nightmares
American Nightmares | Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa
4 posts | 9 read | 1 to read
Someone at Project Blue was keeping a secret. A secret they thought they could contain. They thought wrong. Now, with 99 percent of the country's population dead or dying, the viral strain developed at project Blue--dubbed "Captain Trips"--has brought about the end of the world. For the survivors--including Nick Andros, Larry Underwood, Frannie Goldsmith and Stu Redman--this ending is a nightmare that's just begun. And for Randall Flagg, this is an American Nightmare come true, as his macabre vision of the future continues to unfold. Based on the popular apocalyptic novel by celebrated author Stephen King, The Stand: American Nightmares brings together the award-winning writing of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (HBO's Big Love) and the gritty visuals of artists Mike Perkins (Captain America) and Laura Martin (Astonishing X-Men). I am enjoying this graphic novel adaptation, and it still follows the book well. However I think I benefit from having read the novel first as it may be a bit rushed if you don‘t know the story #losersclub #constantreader

My next graphic novel read for my #SnowDayReadathon! I love The Stand, it's one of my favorite King books and these are characters I know so well that I suspect in my old age I'll think I knew them in real life...

When Harold Lauder hits the page 🙅🏻🙅🏻🙅🏻🙅🏻🙅🏻🙅🏻❌🚷🚫🆘🔙 one of my least favorite literary characters of all time! (Excuse all the posts today, I'm on a mission to read 6 books to hit my Goodreads goal!)

Yossarian No blinking until you're caught up! 8y
OrangeMooseReads He gave me the hibbie gibbies and still does 8y
prowlix I didn't know there was a graphic novel of this! I just read it last year! 8y
Eyelit Hold up, the stand has a graphic novel version?!? How did I not know this! Must find! 8y
courtney @Yossarian my eyes! They burn! @OrangeMooseReads same! He is just as gross in the graphic novel 🤢 @prowlix @Eyelit I definitely recommend it if you enjoyed the book! It's awesome getting to see the characters and revisit the story in a more condensed version. I think there are between 5 and 7 issues. Marvel puts them out🤗 8y
