Bookwormjillk It was fun to revisit his earlier stories and see him start to play with some of his longer books and themes. My dad had the version with the eyeball hand on the cover when I was a kid and I always had nightmares about it. Also Children if the Corn was a sleepover favorite so yay for nostalgia. 2d
AllDebooks I enjoyed this collection. As @Bookwormjillk said, it's fun seeing the formation of his longer works. Children of the corn was so creepy. X 2d

TieDyeDude I was surprised to see him flirt with sci-fi with I Am the Doorway. He doesn't seem to play in that sandbox too often. I liked the "bad deal" stories, Quitters Inc, The Ledge, Lawnmower Man. Lawnmower, Trucks, and Mangler were pretty silly ? I found Last Rung ? maybe the most memorable. It had an aching sweetness to it, but I seem to like unrequited/unreciprocated love stories for some reason... 2d
BarkingMadRead @alldebooks children of the corn has always creeped me out! The movie is so messed up! @TieDyeDude yes! Mangler was so silly at the end 🤣 2d
Balibee146 Oh I love that edition. I didn't pick up Night Shift last month sadly but I do like it as a collection. I really enjoy King short stories 😍 2d
LoverOfLearning Just recently started reading SK! Long list of books to read 😩 2d

5feet.of.fury It‘s soooo long,but I‘ve wanted to read this one for a long time…. 😩 1w
BarkingMadRead @5feet.of.fury it‘s my favorite book of all time, it‘s so epic! 1w
kwmg40 I'm not sure if, like @BarkingMadRead, I'd call this my favourite book of all time (though I can certainly appreciate readers making that argument) but it's definitely my favourite of the Stephen King books I've read. I'm looking forward to the reread. 1w
bekakins Just discovered this readalong! King is my favourite author so would love to join in! I last read the stand during Covid….. Scarrrryyyyyyyy!!! 1w

Pickpick

This is our February selection for the Constant Reader book club. I‘ve watched the original 1983 movie adaptation multiple times and first read the book in 2015 as an audiobook. This time, I decided to read my physical copy. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it again and liked it better the second time.

Soscha Is Constant Readers a local or online club? Just curious, behind one indeed! 2w
LoverOfLearning Finally read my first ever Steven King bookm Started with Misery was pretty good! Any recommendations for my next read by him? 2w
NatalieR @Soscha It‘s a local, in person book club. Here, you may want to check out #losersclub #constantreader 2w

NatalieR @LoverOfLearning Misery was my first King book too! 😃 Glad you liked it. The Shining is one of my favorites. 2w
Soscha An online King Constant Reader group is doing the second Dark Tower book. I‘ve not read the first yet though. 😓 2w
sarahbarnes I liked this one too when I read it. He has some really good ones. 2w
LoverOfLearning @NatalieR that's funny! 💯 love that. That's a long book huh! Maybe I'll read it ! 2w
NatalieR @Soscha The Dark Tower series is quite a commitment. The first book was tough for me to get through. The rest were really good though. 2w
NatalieR @LoverOfLearning It‘s not too long. It‘s engaging and suspenseful. 🤓 2w
Soscha I read the Dead Zone some time ago. It‘s logged on my Goodreads but I didn‘t leave a written review. Is this the one with an insane POTUS candidate? Damn good but way too close to reality at this point in history, if I may say. 2w
NatalieR @Soscha 😅 Yep, that‘s it! While reading it, I kept thinking how It‘s VERY close to our reality. 2w

King famously disliked the film adaptation of The Shining. Having seen the movie several times, I guess I can see his dissatisfaction, but I think Kubrick did a good job. The book is different enough that I got well caught up in the suspense. Very good #constantreader #losersclub

BarkingMadRead The movie is really good, the miniseries is closer to the book, but not nearly as good! I‘ve also noticed that whenever King is involved, the movies tend to be a little campy. When he‘s not, they are way creepier, and way better IMO 1mo

bthegood I will be jumping in this month and I'll be listening to “Stories for Night Shift“ so I'll be “reading“ about 5 of the stories - it is the perfect audiobook this month. Thanks for hosting. (edited) 1mo

Bookwormjillk One of his best I think. I love a haunted hotel. One of these days I'm going to read this and Dr. Sleep back to back. 1mo

AnishaInkspill I really enjoyed reading this one. 1mo
BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk that‘s a really cool idea! 1mo
Bookwormjillk @BarkingMadRead maybe around Father‘s Day 🔪 1mo
TieDyeDude I'm late to the party, but I really enjoyed this. Usually, King really flushes out the community that the book is taking place in, but this has such a narrow scope that the few characters and the hotel itself get much more attention. 1mo
BarkingMadRead @TieDyeDude yes! He usually has soooooo many characters, this was nice to really get to focus on the few involved 1mo
