Like some others on here, I just seem to keep reading these! This is the longest one so far, yet still under 7 hours on audio. I enjoyed this one, but found it a little uneven. Great in places, dragging a touch in others.

Just delightful banter and then suddenly a pithy saying or poignant comment. I‘m not sure I can tell you what the series is “about.” It‘s more just enjoying the dialogue, in peeling back the layers of Emma and Pierce, and even Islington. It‘s reading the last sentence on the page, eagerly turning that page anticipating the next sentence only to find it‘s done; that volume is done. So on to volume 4 tomorrow.
It‘s a cozy reading night. ❤️
I‘m pacing myself because I love these so much. This one deals with a local performance of Julius Caesar and the most delightful dinner party with some rowdy young men. Every new volume is wonderful and I can‘t wait to read more.
Another day, another journal…
Alas, I‘ve finished this one before the fourth had a chance to arrive. And so, my lazy days with Emma are drawing to a close. For now.
Set in the 1880‘s in a tiny English village, these personal tales of Emma M. Lion‘s spirited encounters and innermost thoughts are a delight. I love the romance, the quirk, the inexplicable little touches of the otherworldly (e.g. the ghost that haunts their neighborhood). Perfection.
“A lesser mortal might have hoped he would have passed quietly in the night.
I, however, would have settled for him passing rather loudly.”
How can you not giggle at lines like this?!
I‘m sprinkling this series in amongst other books because it is such a delight. I‘m on Volume 3 now. #serieslove2023 @TheSpineView @Andrew65
