I loved this book about one of my favourite animals. We have some living nearby, and while heard more than seen, I spotted one at dusk a few weeks ago & nearly crashed my car I was so excited!
Coulthard is informative without being dry, and writes with heart. Lifecycle, habitat, prey, anatomy, behaviour, interactions with humans and ecological issues are all covered in surprising detail for a short book: an introduction rather than a study, ⬇️
Bookwomble ... but it doesn't feel rushed or superficial. I'd say it was a hoot, but that's tawny owls: barn owls screech! 😁 5🦉 1y

Bookwomble @TheBookgeekFrau I bought it in a second-hand bric-a-brack shop (too good to be a junk shop, too cheap to be an antique shop 🙃) in the early 80s with one of my first pay packets. I've loved it ever since 🤎😊 1y
