Mistletoe & Mishigas
Mistletoe & Mishigas: Teachers in Love: Book Two | M. A. Wardell
7 posts | 6 read
Beauty and the Bear. Can these opposites fake their way to something real? Sheldon Soleskin should be having a horrible day. Even though he's been unexpectedly transferred to a new school right before the holidays, has only one day to set up his new classroom, and just discovered his twin sister's been hiding an invitation to his ex-boyfriend's Christmas Eve wedding, he's still ready to take on the world with a smile on his face and a skip in his step. Theo Berenson just wants to be left alone to his custodial duties. But when the chipper new first-grade teacher needs help moving furniture the Sunday after Thanksgiving, he's forced to do something he detests. Help. To make matters worse, Theo's overbearing parents are coming for Hanukah in a few weeks, and he's told them he has a boyfriend. Except he doesn't. Because who would want to date an oaf like Theo? Working together, these opposites discover they might be able to help each other out. Agreeing to be each other's dates, they become friends as they practice for their upcoming events. But when all the rehearsing starts feeling a little too real, and both men's pasts come roaring back to haunt them, will they be able to pull off the ultimate holiday masquerade? Advance Praise for Mistletoe and Mishigas "Sheldon and Theo's opposites-attract, Beauty-and-the-Beast chemistry grabbed me from the first chapter and never let go. Their past traumas are handled deftly with Wardell's now-signature humor and care, creating a love story both steamy and sweet, with an HEA steeped in personal growth and full acceptance of the other. Wholly delightful and full of Hanukah spirit-Wardell's voice jumps off the page." - Anita Kelly, author of Something Wild and Wonderful

Mehso-so

Like the first book in this series, I wanted to love this story but I never quite believed in the feelings the main characters had for each other. Theo finds Sheldon annoying at the start, and I never quite believe it when he is supposed to have moved past that.

Which is too bad because I like both characters very much; I just never quite felt more than a superficial attraction between them.

Mehso-so

Featherweight rom com centered on two loveable characters. Made me smile and occasionally laugh, though much of the humor is clumsy. Overly expository, and the voices of the dueling narrators aren't distinct enough. But the characterizations and plotting consistently punch above their weight.

Nice try, Wardell, but I don't think this counts as a fatal blow in the game of Whamageddon.

HeyT I'm so mad I lost Whamageddon on Nov 30th this year lol 12mo
Ruthiella No, the rules are you have to HEAR it! 😂 I won this year already. 12mo

Ruthiella I only play with my sister, so a very small group.😂 12mo
HeyT @Lauredhel I've always played day after American Thanksgiving ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If you start from December 1st I lost on December 12th so I'm a double loser lol (edited) 12mo
Lauredhel @Ruthiella Ah! I play the global rules - everyone who makes it to the 25th wins 12mo
Lauredhel @HeyT Oh, that's some bad luck. 12mo

Pickpick

I've been looking forward to reading this one since it came out & it did not disappoint. Loved this grumpy/sunshine fake dating holiday romance! Sheldon needs a date for his ex's Christmas wedding & Theo needs a boyfriend for his family's Hanukkah celebration before his mom hires a yenta. Sheldon has insecurities about being too femme & Theo suffers from PTSD but both soon open up to each other and realize that what they're doing doesn't feel fake
