“In the aftermath of the Edsa Revolution, Thai protesters filled the streets of Bangkok. Another man stood before another tank at Tiananmen Square. The Berlin Wall fell, with Germany thanking the Philippines for showing them the way. Once upon a time, we were heroes.”

I had never heard of Edsa before this book. I am very impressed with the Women's Prize Non-fiction list this year, I am learnig so much.

Leniverse Oh good. I think I might make this my non-fiction for March. 2mo
jenniferw88 @Leniverse, it's definitely interesting and frustrating - I learnt a lot about the Philippines, but it is hard-going in places because of the subject matter. 2mo

rockpools I thought this was really well done. But I had to read it mega-fast (for me) so as not to become bogged down in it. It‘s a lot!! 2mo
ShyBookOwl I just had a similar experience with My Heart is a Chainsaw 🖤 2mo
