This was okay cozy mystery, maybe silly but after many bad books in a row😳I found it funny, enjoyable. It‘s like a comedy, a funny play. This writer of detective novels, Marius who lives with his mother, uncle and aunt is invited by his ex girlfriend to a fancy party. He hasn‘t see Isabella for a couple of years now she appears🤔A murder occurred in the party, the police can‘t arrive on time because of the storm.Who then start to investigate?⬇️

Gissy Yes, Marius is trying to apply his detective skills as a novel writer in that situation. It is silly and funny. Don‘t expect more about this story but it worked for me. It saved me after my boring readings☺️3⭐️ 13mo

This has good reviews on goodreads but I was underwhelmed. Marius's inner dialogue is amusing but he & Bella are rather bumbling detectives so I never felt confident in them. Especially as their conclusions were based on whether they, or rather Marius, could create a reasonable narrative out of them. It made sense that a novelist like Marius would think that way but it didn't make sense that everyone accepted his conclusions so easily. ⬇️

bookandbedandtea ⬆️ He got there in the end, of course, but I prefer detectives who actually know what they're doing. I think I'll pass on the rest of series. 13mo

Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced listening copy. Brown has a number of titles to his name, and this is the first in the Marius Quin series, set in the 1920s. This is a fun, house party murder mystery, with a snowstorm no less, in homage to Agatha Christie. Marius is a good amateur sleuth and uses his mystery author background to solve the mystery. I liked the audio - the voice narrator was great as Marius. I‘d read another!
