Finally getting around to posting about the Newcastle Writer‘s Festival back in April. Right before I head to the Sydney Writer‘s Festival next wk. I learn so much at these fests & ❤️ using my 🧠 again. This lecture was called The Case Against Marriage. It‘s so fab to have a writer‘s festival in my home town. I went Sat & Sun & caught up with friends both days. My highlight was seeing Girl in a Pink Dress author, Kylie Needham twice.

ChaoticMissAdventures How fantastic! I adore Clementine Ford 😍 6mo

Ahh Clem, you‘ve done it again. This is Clementine Ford‘s 4th non-fiction book. It‘s a deep dive into marriage.
She challenges, informs, innovates, affirms, and puts a fire cracker up the arse of the patriarchy ☄️🍑🚹. I love her work so much.
Read it. And get your daughters to read it 👊.

Jeg I‘ve got my fingers crossed for Xmas. 🤞 12mo

I really baulk at the idea that I am a man-hater. I am married to man and have two gorgeous sons and a stepson.
As I have gotten older (and wiser 😉) I have felt myself relating more and more to my mum, who was a staunch second wave feminist. She was often accused of being a man-hater.
And then I read this ⬆️ in Clementine Ford‘s latest book. I am now going to proudly claim the title of ‘man-seer‘💪🔥🙏.

TrishB I‘m a staunch feminist- but also married to a man and have a son. It is seeing things! The misogyny, patriarchy and the privilege. I don‘t hate men either, the good guys see it all too. 12mo
MrsMalaprop @TrishB absolutely 🙌 12mo
AmyG Yes @TrishB….well said! 12mo
Jeg I relate to what you are saying. I love my dad, my grandson, my male friends but I can‘t count the number of times as a lesbian I‘ve been called a man hater. A man seer I am. Thanks . 12mo

Clementine stretches my brain. It‘s not always comfortable, but it is ultimately satisfying to interrogate yourself & your position on things.
“Feminism is not about choice. Feminism is about liberating the world from patriarchy”.

merelybookish I follow her on IG and always appreciate her analysis. She unapologetic and I find her work refreshing and thought provoking. 12mo
MrsMalaprop @merelybookish Me too. How do you know her? I didn‘t think she was very well known outside Australia. 12mo
Jeg A good book for book club..?? 😏 12mo

MrsMalaprop @Graywacke sure is! Clem is an incendiary Australian feminist whose work is always interesting and well-researched. My husband braces himself every time I read one of her books 😬. 12mo
