pickA cute, quick read by a new author. I did enjoy the author's satirical take on the older white male boss. There was a purposeful misunderstanding moment that brought me joy. That said... the whole lying thing gave me low-key anxiety. I may wiggle around a straight answer sometimes, but I avoid outright lying to people. So, it was hard for me to relate to that part of Amber. The rest of the book was great.
pickYou don't see many Native American Rom-Com, so I jumped at the chance to read this one. Ember was an interesting MC. She was a pathological liar but had a good heart. However, her lying did give me some anxiety. And Danuwoa, he sounded dreamy. I give it 4 ⭐️
pickAn indigenous spicy rom com with cultural representation? Say no more! Ember hides her tribal heritage to land an accounting job at a company. As she deals with jealous, backstabbing coworkers, she meets a hunky fellow Native IT guy who throws her career and love life for a loop in this romantic comedy.
pickOverall, it was fine. Enjoyable enough to keep reading, but here‘s what worked my nerves: the MC ‘clinched her thighs‘ often, not in intimate situations, just randomly clinched her thighs together🤷🏼♀️. Secondly, the MC and her boo had extensively detailed, specific conversations WITH THEIR EYES! I cannot. Stop the madness. However, I loved the Native American perspective, and I bet Nava gets better and better as she writes more books. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
