Humanity is but one subjugated species amongst a huge range of intelligent creatures who are told they must be useful to the ruling aliens or their entire species will be destroyed.

There is one hidden spy among the humans, a tiny hope, the spy is hiding inside one human.

Their captors are deeply disturbing in their brutality. Can hope survive in the face of this unknown reality.

Damn it Corey, I don‘t have time for these doorstoppers! Fine. Okay. I‘ll read this and I‘ll like this. But I won‘t be happy about it.

Another one I had a hard time putting down. Corey excels at world building & this book is no exception. When their planet is invaded, the residents (the only humans in the book) quickly learn that their survival is entirely dependent on how useful they are. Throw in a centuries long war, the drama, rivalries, secrets that don‘t disappear even when your world does, &‘you have a great story. Loved that the aliens aren‘t humanoid. First in a series.

I had high expectations for this new book by the authors of The Expanse; this riveting book managed to exceed them. Dafyd is a research assistant, the lowest cog in an acclaimed research team, and the nephew of a powerful administrator. When unknown objects appear above his planet, his world must face the violent judgment of a powerful colonizing race of aliens. A compelling account of trauma, survival and impossible choices. Next book, please!

A space opera today. I loved the Expanse and have high hopes for this one.

So excited that my signed copy finally arrived. 😁

Thirteen pages in, and I've already had to look up 3 words. Kinda missing my kindle and the ability to just click for a definition. By the way, moeity? Doesn't mean a measure of the level of one's Moe-ness. Go figure. 🤷‍♀️

I just pre-ordered my signed copy of this one, and I can only remember one time (20ish years ago) being close to this excited about a book release (the 6th book in a series which I loved but the author has become a big disappointment). But THIS BOOK! I have an Expanse shaped hole in my heart, and I'm hoping Mercy will fill it. August 6th cannot come fast enough.
