Mehso-so

Well that was violent and and disgusting and offensive and trippy and, okay, entertaining.
There's satire floating in amongst the repugnance but I suggest a strong stomach and a not too sensitive temperament. 🤢
Solid horror, some truly creepy concepts.
It's not all pretty, but there's some very skillful art in evidence.
1/2

Robotswithpersonality Enough back story for the Goon to feel invested in the character and want to read more about his adventures...probably with large breaks in between.

Amused by the tendency to pluck exotic names for mystical people/places by reversing common place western namesl ike Steve or George. See if you can find those Easter eggs!

⚠️gore, animal death, statutory SA, mention of incest, cannibalism, animal cruelty, ableism, homophobia, sexism, body horror

#DeckTheShelves #TinselWrapped

Eric Powell tells the Christmas Carol story with his rough and tumble Goon characters.

I've always been a big fan of The Goon #comic and this is always a fun issue to read at Christmas.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Never read The Goon, but I love Hellboy and I‘ve always thought of them as kindred spirits. 7y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @TobeyTheScavengerMonk they really are. There have been lots of cross-overs between the 2. I love them both. 7y

#catchingup on #awesomeautumnbooks #day23 / #fallintobooks #day26 - #lesserknown / #lesserknowncomics

The Goon is a series I've always meant to check out. I'm not sure whether to seek out the first trade to see if I like it or go for the 1st omnibus that relatively cheap online.
