The Goon is a series I've always meant to check out. I'm not sure whether to seek out the first trade to see if I like it or go for the 1st omnibus that relatively cheap online.
Falling behind again for #awesomeautumnbooks. I haven't seen a ton of posts about Silverman's Girl Out of Water, so posting about it for #lesserknown. This a an adorable YA contemporary debut about Anise who must leave the beaches in CA where she spends all her time surfing to go to landlocked Nebraska to help her aunt with her cousins after a serious car accident. This is a coming of age story with real issues, skateboarding, & a one-armed hunk!

This amazing book tells the #lesserknown story of the countless number of radium poisoning victims due to the massive coverup by the US Radium Corporation. The brave women covered in this book worked tirelessly to expose USRC for the #liars that they were. Moore does an excellent job of bringing these heroes to life and recounting their struggle for justice.

I found the first book from this #LesserKnown series in a bargain bin at a truck stop. I enjoyed it and wanted to read the rest of the books once I realized it was a series, but it took me about a long time to track them down. When I finally found these omnibus editions , I scooped them up. Good thing, too because I've never seen them anywhere else. It's been about 10 years since I last read these books so they're definitely due for a reread.
so-soBluets is certainly #lesserknown than The Argonauts, and while I started it in February, I only just picked it up again and finished it. I wasn't expecting it to be other than it was, and yet I still found it so-so, maybe because I had just read The Argonauts and loved it so much. Perhaps I was hoping for more underlying glimpses of a life, but I didn't feel as close to the author with this one. Lovely idea though, I can't dislike it.
I am liking these characters more than I thought I would.
