pickThis is a beautifully written novel that I was able to immerse myself in. Hecatate is an independant, strong female character and I enjoyed going in this journey with her. I liked the magical and mythical aspects of the story. The audiobook added to my enjoyment of the tale. Calin‘s pace and inflection added to the emotions and events of the story. She brought life to the story and to the characters; I hope she narrates the next in the series.
pickWho wouldn‘t want the ability to communicate with friendly ghosts? Our main character gets to do just that, and all while working in a library!! Dream come true! Well, not completely a dream as there‘s some bad stuff going on too, but still. This was a little longer than it needed to be but I‘m excited to read the next book (since it says Part 1). pickBrackston‘s latest is the first in what promises to be an exciting series. I‘ve seen some reviewers complain about the end being unsatisfying. I found it quite the opposite. No, the singular villain has not been revealed but that only serves to make me anticipate the future adventures of Miss Cavendish. And that definitely doesn‘t mean that there‘s a lack of a satisfying climax - in fact there are two very compelling scenes that lead to the end.
