Love Letters to a Serial Killer
Love Letters to a Serial Killer | Tasha Coryell
An aimless young woman starts writing to an accused serial killer while he awaits trial and then, once hes acquitted, decides to move in with him and take the investigation into her own hands in this dark and irresistibly compelling debut thriller. Recently ghosted and sick of watching her friends fade into the suburbs, thirty-something Hannah finds community in a true-crime forum thats on a mission to solve the murders of four women in Atlanta. After William, a handsome lawyer, is arrested for the killings, Hannah begins writing him letters. Its the perfect outlet for her pent-up frustration and rage. The exercise empowers her, and even feels healthy at first. Until William writes back. Hannahs interest in the case goes from curiosity to obsession, leaving space for nothing else as her life implodes around her. After she loses her job, she heads to Georgia to attend the trial and befriends other true-crime junkies like herself. When a fifth woman is discovered murdered, the jury has no choice but to find William not guilty, and Hannah is the first person he calls upon his release. The two of them quickly fall into a routine of domestic bliss. Well, as blissful as one can feel while secretly investigating their partner for serial murder

Hannah, the MC, was by far the worst character I‘ve read in a long, long time! But the story itself was dark and funny at times and interesting. If Hannah was not HORRIBLE, this would have been a pick. (35)
⭐️: 3/5

FashionableObserver Hannah was the worst! Yet, the book was still good. Seriously though, how I managed to get through 388 pages of her obnoxious personality is beyond me. I suppose it‘s a testament to the author‘s talent! 😅 (edited) 2mo

5⭐
𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐒⇩
-The great writing combined with the stellar narration made this a highly digestible story. Despite how truly f*cked up it is; I could not stop listening.
-It was fast-paced and had some cringy (in a good-ish way) laugh-out-loud moments.
-It has a little bit of so many genres mashed up into one crazy AF story.
𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐒⇩
-MC is a mess for sure…but Andi Arndt played her to perfection, so ultimately I found it to be a pro after all.

Hannah is a rather interesting character. I can completely understand how she fell into the hole she did and why she had many of the feelings and motivations that she did. I also found William to be an intriguing character; I had my suspicions about him but there were still a couple of surprises along the way. I really liked the way that the story was told–if there had not been letters between Hannah and William included I would have been bummed.

This book was a fun read. Hannah, a lost 30-something millennial, is looking for love in all the wrong places. She continually finds the wrong type of guy to date and becomes fixated on them. After being ignored by her latest obsession, she begins writing angry hate letters to a serial killer she saw in the news. She's very surprised when he writes get back. This book has a lot of LOL moments, it's a fun read. 🌟🌟🌟✨

This one was a bit of a head scratcher in a good way. The central character is “in love” or rather obsessed with an alleged serial killer, and her obsession leads her right to his family‘s doorstep. It is purposefully uncomfortable and often reveals our culture‘s darker impulses in “true crime” and misogyny. Some of the plot felt too fluid for me, too aimless and unbelievable. This type of dark “comedy” is def not for everyone.

Melismatic My thanks to Berkley Publishing & NetGalley for this ARC! This novel will be released this month - June 25th! 4mo

That‘s a wrap on May! June will bring the tagged ARC, at least 3 library reads, 🤞🏻 I can squeeze in the Divine Rivals sequel, and a book club pick.

May: 2 audiobooks, 4 paperbacks, 1 hardcover
Fave of the Month: Station Eleven but Sea of Tranquility came in a close second. #AuthorAMonth was good to me. 🥰

If the title &cover don‘t already give it away, the main character is nutty. The synopsis says 2 much &there isn‘t much 2 add that isn‘t there. In the real world, I would say we need to find a mental health professional for Hannah. In this fictitious one, I was repeating WTFs &uttering “you‘re batshit crazy” while laughing as I turned the pages. This book, &this character, are obviously not meant 2 be taken seriously, &that is what made it so fun.
