In this darkly magical, romantic fantasy debut set in Washington State, a closeted teenage psychic foresees the death of his sworn enemy, and is forced to work with him to save his life. Sparks fly, but some ghosts don't want to stay buried... Perfect for fans of The Raven Cycle, Cemetery Boys and Sixteen Souls. Miles Warren hails from a long line of psychics. Resigned to a life in the family business, Miles is perfectly happy, thank you very muchexcept that he's constantly consumed by anxiety, hides his sexuality from almost everyone, and always feels exhausted from long nights spent wrangling angry ghosts. Perfectly happy. Miles comfortable routine is interrupted when he starts to see the reflection of a strange boy in his mirror. He discovers the boy is none other than Gabriel Hawthorne, whose family have a mysterious, decades-long feud with Miles ownand that the visions are a premonition of his death. Gabriel is everything Miles expects from a Hawthornerude, snobbish, and irritatingly good-lookingbut Miles isnt just going to stand by and let someone murder him. (Even if he understands the impulse). The two form an uneasy alliance, trying to work out who might want to kill Gabriel and prevent his death from taking place. As they uncover secrets about their families feud and dark magic swirls around them, Miles is horrified to realize that he doesnt hate Gabriel as much as hes supposed to. He might even like him. Too bad Gabriel is almost certainly going to die.

Pickpick

Two feuding families, one premonition of death, and the possibility of a forbidden love. When the story starts in a cemetery late at night, it bodes well for the rest of the tale. The writing and characters were engaging. It is unfortunate that no one believes in endings anymore. Let‘s just leave a thought dangling out there and consider it a job well done. Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for an advance digital copy.

I screamed when the book ended on a cliff hanger because now I have to wait to find out what happens!

I absolutely loved this book. It's a great YA paranormal mystery with a developing romantic subplot.
⬇️

PuddleJumper I was thoroughly engaged in the mystery. There were several different elements to it, each one interesting. I liked how the characters would draw conclusions based on the information they had and then had to revise it when they learned more. It was very realistic and kept me invested.

PuddleJumper The romance was a slow burn and came about very organically. The author managed to capture the awkwardness of teenagers developing feelings and not knowing what to do with it. It was very relatable.

I loved the banter and relationship between the characters. The focus wasn't just on the romantic relationship which I liked, the relationships with other characters were also developed.

PuddleJumper The world felt very vibrant and real. I can't wait to revisit it in the second book.

Thanks to #Netgalley for the #ARC

Oh I love it when I get accepted for #ARC that I don't remember requested ...

I've got a bit of a backlog. I got distracted by Kindle Unlimited. I might have to shift a bunch of them to next month and focus on the stuff from #Netgalley
