The plot was convoluted and the characters were many and undeveloped.

*I started out loving this one. It seemed interesting as regards Aimée‘s personal life, propulsive as regards the storyline, and nice and twisty as regards the kidnapping of René. But towards the end, I had to bring up my auto-recall function—too many minor characters with sporadic appearances—I couldn‘t remember all of them; and suspend my disbelief—did she really climb up a trestle with a man with a prosthetic leg—I think Black ⬇️
Not one of my favourite ones in this series, but still did enjoy this book. I don‘t think these work that well as audiobooks but unfortunately that is all I can access locally. I‘m enjoying these group, reads with @Tove_Reads @EadieB @gradcat @Crazeedi but would never make my favourites list. And so onto the next one.
Linh, a nun, asks Aimee to go Clichy to exchange envelope for a package. Recipient Barat is shot and dies in Aimee's arms. The RG - French secret service; group of veterans of war in Indochina, some wealthy ex-colonials and international corporations are implicated. Aimee promised to avoid danger but it finds her. I find Black's books to be easy reading & atmospheric. Paris is definitely a character in her books. Looking forward to next book.
Started book 5 in the Aimee Leduc series whilst driving too and from school. These seem hard to get hold of in the UK so having to do them by audiobook, the libraries don‘t have them. I am reading this with @gradcat @Crazeedi @EadieB and @Tove_Reads
Others welcome to join us. 😊

Next up. Liking the cover of this one. Think it's the 5th in the series.
