I really loved this book. Despite the potential cheesy romance factor, I thought it was actually very well written. It kept my interest until the very end. I was really rooting for Alex and Brittany to get together despite all the obstacles in their way. Do they? Well, you'll just have to see for yourself. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

1. Purple pen! I can‘t remember where I got it but I‘ve had it for years. Swag from something. It says “Simone Elkeles writes teen books with attitude!â€
2. Chocolate
3. Wedding rings. I‘m not a jewelry person. It‘s just another decision I would have to make in the morning. 🤷ðŸ»â€â™€ï¸
4. Unofficial but dresses and leggings (in the winter). I hate pants.
5. Yup.

Everyone knows I'm perfect. My life is perfect. My clothes are perfect. Even my family is perfect. And although it's a complete lie, I've worked my butt off to keep up the appearance that I have it all. The truth, if it were to come out, would destroy my entire picture-perfect image.

Our lips touch for the briefest moment before I lace my fingers in her hair and keep kissing her soft and gentle. I cup her cheek in my palm, feeling her baby-soft skin against my rough fingers. My body urges me to take advantage of the situation, but my brain (the one inside my head) keeps me in check.

I picked up this series by complete accident one day a few years ago. At the time it was so good... but after reading again last year it may be one i never get back into. The story in the first one is so strong then i feel it looses its meaning in the second and third book. The first one touches upon the importance of stopping gang violence but I feel like the other two are more about the importance of trying to be what society wants you to be.

I'm listening to the audiobook. I really like the narrator for Alex. The narrator for Brittany is a little harder to listen to. I also like how the relationship between Brittany and her disabled sister is portrayed. It's been a compulsive listen.

Aswenson When we got this book at our library we giggled at the cover but it has such great reviews! Glad to hear you're liking it. (edited) 8y
AmandaL @Aswenson I know! I definitely prefer covers like Nicola Yoon's, especially for YA romance. 😄 8y
Hsmith0520 Oh my gosh I read this book ( along with the rest of the series ) years ago and LOVE it! I got it so many years ago that it had the original book illustrations on it the cover and I liked those so much better. I also love her ruined series if you get a chance to read that. 8y

AmandaL @Hsmith0520 I just added Ruined! This story is really compelling, and I love the Alex Fuentes character. I'm definitely going to pick up the other books. 8y
Hsmith0520 @AmandaL are you planning on reading the other two books about Alex's brothers too? They are all great because you get to see all of them grow up and how their lives turn out too. 8y
AmandaL @Hsmith0520 Yes! I was just looking at them on my library's website. Right now I'm listening to the audiobook, but I plan on getting the next two books once all my holds clear.😠8y
Hsmith0520 @AmandaL I love audio books so much! I listen to them in the car and when I'm getting ready at the house, or feeding my son. They are so amazing 8y

Super easy read. Went through in about 3 work days, didn't want to put it down. Not necessarily because it was so great but because I wanted to see if what I guessed was right.

At first it took me forever to get into this book I don't know why it just did but as I read it the more it drew me in and to be honest a lot of things that happened surprised me like Brittany and Alex getting together because he was the bad boy gang member and she was the preppy girl that had to be perfect but what also surprised me is when Paco died because i really wasn't expecting that and it made me super sad...

Tonight's read. I've read this book more times then I care to count, but I love it every time. A high school love story that really draws you in and hits you with a look at interracial and inter monetary dating in modern society. Might be for teens but adults can love it!
