"I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"

4th grade poem for #PoetryWednesday

We put this in historical context because Longfellow had gone through A LOT, losing his son to the Civil War and his wife to a gruesome fire. This is a poem about not giving up hope.

MariettaSG Another great teaching idea, ♥️ 6y

"There was a little girl, and she had a little curlright in the middle of her forehead. When she was good, she was very, very good, and when she was bad she was horrid." Sorry I've been quasi-MIA, Littens. And sorry for the selfie. I'm really, really tired. Send books and blankets.

MrBook Never be sorry for a selfie 😜. Which kind of books are we talkin' here? 8y

katedensen @MrBook Comforting ones? @SusanInTiburon ❤️ @Karkar My grandmother would say it to my mother who would say it to me. Now, I say it to myself. @britt_brooke 🙏🏻 8y
CoffeeAndABook Hope you're feeling a whole lot better today!! But just in case... Comforting books! Just off the top of my head: Attachments by Rainbow Rowell.. And The Cookbook Collector by Allegra Goodman 😊 8y
katedensen @CoffeeAndABook Aw, thank you! Feeling much better today, mostly because I have the Brooklyn Indie Party to look forward to tonight. Both excellent comfort books! I recently read Attachments and had forgotten about The Cookbook Collector, which I read years ago and loved. 8y
CoffeeAndABook @katedfisher ! Isn't it fantastic that we always get a brand new beginning with each new day. Some days are just... Better forgotten. Enjoy the indie party! I stayed on Cumberland last time I was in NY so I know the location! 8y
