"I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"
–Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
4th grade poem for #PoetryWednesday
We put this in historical context because Longfellow had gone through A LOT, losing his son to the Civil War and his wife to a gruesome fire. This is a poem about not giving up hope.
"There was a little girl, and she had a little curlright in the middle of her forehead. When she was good, she was very, very good, and when she was bad she was horrid." Sorry I've been quasi-MIA, Littens. And sorry for the selfie. I'm really, really tired. Send books and blankets.
