2.75 stars. I enjoyed The Henna Artist; this was just okay. It had an intriguing infusion of culture and the settings were immersive, but I felt like the pacing was off and some things didn‘t really make sense. #BOTM

Just giving a heads up…I didn‘t finish this book. I will be shelving and maybe giving another try another time. . I just couldn‘t get into it. Didn‘t want to pick it up and read it. So I don‘t like forcing myself to read something I‘m not interested in. Nothing to do with the author at all. Just me. I may pick it up again sometime. What I read there was no bad language or inappropriate content that I remember. ⭐️⭐️ #DNF #LitsyReads #fiction
I really liked the idea of this book, but I thought it had serious pacing issues.
5 Stars • Six Days in Bombay by Alka Joshi, set in 1930s British India, follows Sona, an Anglo-Indian nurse, who bonds with Mira, a half-Indian painter. After Mira‘s sudden death, Sona is blamed and fired. Tasked with delivering Mira‘s paintings to Prague, Paris, Florence, and London, Sona travels across Europe to clear her name, exploring identity and art amid a looming war.

The idea of this book is interesting - a young nurse working in a hospital in Bombay in the 1930s, but the story and pace dragged and I didn't care for the writing.
I love her writing so much! And the narration was fantastic. Sona is befriended by her patient Mira, a painter who has lived a life precisely on her own terms. She decided that Sona is meant for a big life, and pushes her towards taking risks, and facing her fears.
This is set in 1937 Bombay (Mumbai) and Europe. It follows the story of a nurse whose British father abandoned her and her Indian mother and the conflict this has caused is one of the themes of the book. The author did a great job of capturing the atmosphere in India & Europe at the time. I enjoyed it, but the last half of the book seemed to lack that 'something' that would have taken it from good to great. Thanks to Edelweiss+ for the ARC. 4/5
Started this evening. So far so good what I‘ve read. This was my BOTM for April, but I didn‘t get to it to read it, so I‘m reading it for May 🙂🌷🌱 Hope everyone had a great Tuesday! Oh yeah! I love the cover of this book! I know it‘s not this great beauty but there‘s something about it that just makes me just want to keep looking 👀 at it ☺️😁
April #BOTM picks are up! I‘m going with this one! 💚
