2 posts | 8 read | 4 to read
Introducing Alice TodHunter Moon, a Magykal addition to the world of Septimus Heap! Perfect for both established fans of the Septimus Heap series and readers coming to the world of Septimus Heap for the first time, PathFinder is the first book in the Septimus Heap spin-off series, TodHunter Moon.Taking place seven years after the events of the original Septimus Heap series, PathFinder tells the story of Alice TodHunter Moon, a young PathFinder who leaves her seaside village in search of her friend Ferdie. Rumor has it that Ferdie has been taken by mysterious creatures called Garmin under orders from the malevolent Lady.Full of Angie Sage's characteristic humor and heart, PathFinder introduces a new cast of young characters—and a new kind of Magyk. All the beloved characters from Septimus Heap are here, too—Tod receives help from ExtraOrdinary Wizard Septimus Heap, ex–ExtraOrdinary Wizard Marcia Overstrand, and Alchemist Simon Heap. A great addition to any fantasy reader's library!

My son read this book and told me it was great and I gotta read it. Which is what I did and to be honest, I liked it but that's about it. Don't get me wrong, the writing is great and I liked some of the characters. But at times it seemed I was missing info which is probably because some things were from the main series - I thought this was a new standalone series but it is in fact a sort of continuation of Septimus Heap. Overall, I enjoyed it.

claudiuo Kinda strange that my first read is my #DoubleSpin for April but since I already started it last month, I thought I should get it done. Thanks again and again @TheAromaOfBooks for doing the spin(s). I had this book for so long on my list... 4y
TheAromaofBooks Great review!! I hate it when books are spinoff series without a lot of clarification that that is what they are!! I'm a little OCD about reading books in order, though lol 4y
claudiuo @TheAromaofBooks Yeah, me too. Last week someone mentioned a SciFi series that I didn't know about and he told me first two books are not very good and there is no need to start with them. Well, I am reading book 1 now and I have book 2 on hold. There is an order for things... 😀 (edited) 4y
TheAromaofBooks Exactly!! And I love being able to look up series so much more easily now that the internet exists! 4y

Mehso-so

Having not read the original Septimus Heap series this book was, eh, okay. There's a lot of things that aren't explained, and a bunch of words misspelled on purpose and some not on purpose (the character's name is Dan, not Don, Mr. Editor). There's no real resolution to the story. At least with Harry Potter things were wrapped up nicely even if the larger evil still lurked out there somewhere.
