Final Account: An Inspector Banks Novel
Final Account: An Inspector Banks Novel | Peter Robinson
4 posts | 4 read
New York Times bestselling and Edgar Award-winning author Peter Robinson delivers one of his most chilling tales of suspense in which Inspector Banks must uncover the secret life of a seemingly ordinary man after his shocking murder. There's more than blood and bone beneath the skin...The victim, a nondescript "numbers cruncher," was murdered just yards away from his wife and daughter. And the crime scene is one that could chill the blood of even the most seasoned police officer. But the strange revelations about an ordinary accountant's extraordinary secret life are what truly set Chief Inspector Alan Banks off--as lies breed further deceptions and blood begets blood, unleashing a policeman's dark passions...and a violent rage that, when freed, might be impossible to control.Twisty, suspenseful, and thoroughly riveting, Final Account is one of Peter Robinson's best thrillers.

Pickpick

‘“A cadaveric spasm had caused Rothwell to grab and hold onto a handful of dust at the moment of death, and Banks thought of the T.S.Elliott quotation, “I will show you fear and a handful of dust,”which he had come across as the title of an Evelyn Waugh novel.”‘
A wild, ingenious plot, with unforeseen consequences for many of the characters.Bank‘ nemesis “Dirty Dick reappears to the consternation of Banks. At Banks request, big, bumbling, but astute ⬇️

kspenmoll ⬆️ Sgt.Hatchley also reappears & uses his many contacts to sus out a clue left behind at the murder site, some shotgun cleaning papers with an unusual, mild porn sheet. This adds some humor. As in some of previous novels in the series, there are multiple mentions by Banks of music & literature that sent me down a rabbit hole- adding some music to my library. Enjoying a Sam Adams Cold Snap as I write this review. Do you see Poe‘s ears poking up? (edited) 6d

Devastating news, Peter Robinson author of the brilliant DCI Banks Series has died, aged 72.

This is the series that led to me falling back in love with Crime fiction, and the tagged book is the one I picked up from a charity shop which was responsible for this.

Lizpixie NO!!! I have this whole series, all 27 of them. I‘m absolutely saddened by this, I picked up Aftermath 20yrs ago on the sale table at my local bookstore and was totally hooked. I love Banks and the way he writes about Yorkshire has given me a love for that county, I wish I could see it myself. This is awful news.😢The one good thing is there‘s one more Banks novel set to come out next year 3y
Andrew65 @Lizpixie Aftermath is one of my favourite books. A favourite all time series. I live in that Yorkshire although not the rural part he talks about. With the new book I still have two to read. 3y

Lizpixie @andrew65 he talks about Yorkshire so beautifully you can just see it. I recently did my family tree in Ancestry and the part of my family that didn‘t come from Scotland, came from Yorkshire. What part do you live in? 3y

Andrew65 @Lizpixie I‘m originally from South London via Sunderland and Jarrow in the North-East of England. But lived in South Yorkshire for the past 22 years. The books cover more the area in North Yorkshire. 3y

I‘ve been stuck with these two series, because these books have “disappeared” from the library. I ended up ordering them online because apparently they‘re out of print, so the library can‘t get them 🤷🏼‍♀️ Didn‘t feel comfortable to just skip them and move on to the next one. I mean, we are talking about really important things here: book series, no skipping allowed!

TrishB Definitely not! 6y
