Though,with both Stephen King & Phil Rickman,you could pretty much put any of their books in their spot.The Rats terrified me at age 14, The Exorcist has given me many nightmares, both The Shining & The Haunting of Hill House are seriously creepy, Crybbe is a classic British ghost story & The Amityville Horror scares me because it's real!👻

I love all of his books, his stories have that creep factor, the one that makes you check under the bed & keep the lights on. His Merrily Watkins series is brilliant, about the female exorcist for the Anglican Church, but his standalone books are his best. This one & The Man In The Moss will make your skin crawl. Don't go out after dark!

This is the first Phil Rickman book I read. I have now read almost all that he published. Though often categorized with supernatural or horror fiction, it is so much more than that.
