Basically, a big book o‘ horror recs wherein every single text‘s been written by a woman (preferred pronouns listed whenever possible).

I‘m not officially reviewing the book for a few reasons:

1) I didn‘t read the intermittent essays.

2) I read *nearly* every thematic list…but I skipped one. I already know — beyond a shadow of a doubt — that “splattercore” is not for me. NO THANK YOU! 👇🏻

monalyisha 3) I don‘t feel like I can confidently rate it a “pick”, “so-so”, etc, until I know whether her recs can be trusted. For all I know, I might decide she‘s got terrible taste in novels! 🤷‍♀️ 1mo
monalyisha I can say, however, that going through her lists was great fun. Of the 200+ books she suggests that readers add to their TBR, she convinced me to shelve 50! That‘s a full fourth. Not too shabby! (edited) 1mo

I can't stop adding spooky books to my TBR. Send help!

Also, how excellent is this hat?!

I just finished a book I loved & was afraid to pick up another novel for fear it would suffer in comparison. So, I grabbed this reader's advisory collection by litfluencer Mother Horror instead, full of book rec lists sorted by “vibes“ (e.g. “Don't Go in the Woods“, “Women vs The Cult“, “Gothic Secret Societies“). Exactly what I needed as October approaches.

Bookperson96 I might have a similar problem. Would love to take a peak at that list. 1mo
monalyisha @Bookperson96 I don‘t know if we have the same taste but I‘m happy to share my curated list when I‘m done going through her recs! 1mo
Bookperson96 Yes please! Cool hat btw. @monalyisha 1mo

I haven‘t finished this yet but I have come to hold Mother Horror‘s opinion in high esteem, and her previous book of recommendations saw me add a number of titles to my TBR list. This is an excellent gateway to new authors and titles and I‘ve already added several new books to my list before I‘m even halfway through. Also the title is everything.

Mother Horror does it again. A reading list of female horror authors. If you're looking to diversify your horror reads, pick up this book. It is categorized by vibes, which I loved, as I'm a moody reader. My TBR has gone way up. I also recommend following Mother Horror on Instagram as she is always posting great horror recs.
