Pickpick

Enjoyed my outing in the usual toxic court of the Tudors.
Read too many Tudor books years ago and have given them a miss for a long time. I liked another book this author wrote, I am giving her Tudor ones a go!

LeahBergen I overdid it on the Tudors, too. 😆 1y
TrishB @LeahBergen at one point I think everything was Tudor or WW2! 1y

Book #23 of 2021. I thought it was great & really brought Katherine Parr to life for me. I also really loved the story of her maid, Dot. Beautifully written. Highly recommend!

This book took me a long time to get into. I thought the story sounded very interesting, but I think the telling of the story itself left a lot to be desired.I don't remember ever learning about Katherine Parr, probably because some of King Henry VIII's other wives led more intriguing lives. I don't think I'll read this book again, but I'll definitely look more into her life.

Day 30 of 31: Bookish Pet Peeve. Deckled edges! They're neat and pretty, but it's a pain when turning the page.

Zelma I am so with you! They are pretty but super annoying and useless. 👎 decked edges! 8y
moranadatter I'm not a fan of them either. 8y
brendanmleonard I think there's a charm to them, but only every so often. Though when I see them sometimes I go "ugh why?" Especially on trade paperbacks. 8y
aLmYbNeNr Yes, yes, and yes! And putting them on paperbacks is especially wonky. @Zelma @kmdartist @brendanmleonard 8y

"Kit”—he had sighed, a long exasperated sound—“a man‘s love is never exclusive; it is only women who truly love with their hearts. I know that, for I am both.”

Trying to get through this book; I got on a 16th century England kick after finally reading "The Other Boleyn Girl." Turns out I don't like to stay on one subject for two books in a row. :/
