Meant to read this earlier this month for pride month but didn‘t actually get the it in time
I put RAINBOW BOYS in the Little Free Library this afternoon and was super excited to see my old copies of THE LIKENESS and THE FLOWERS OF WAR have cycled back in. I've gotta hurry up and read the books I've taken so I can return them and give someone else the same thrill.
pickThis was, like, THE gay YA novel when I was a brand new adult in the early 2000s, which means some elements are pretty dated now. That said, I'm sure this story of three 17-year-old boys (two gay; one bi) who figure themselves out while they fight to establish a Gay-Straight Alliance still has plenty of relevance for contemporary teenagers. The emotions ring true and the challenges the characters face feel real.
I didn't know what book I could use for today's prompt so I did a search on Mexican Authors. I read this book when I was in high school and I think it's so cool that Alex Sanchez is Mexican-American author! #day5 #mexicanormexicanamericanwriters #maybookflowers
pickAs a future English teacher .. read this book for my YA Lit class. It was fantastic! Couldn't put the book down. Book tells the story from the perspective of three young boys who deal with being gay.. not to mention love, loss, acceptance, and so much more.
