Mr. Monster

I killed a demon. I don't know if it was really, technically a demon, but I do know that it was some kind of monster, with fangs and claws and the whole bit, and he killed a lot of people. So I killed him. I think it was the right thing to do. At least the killing stopped. Well, it stopped for a while. In I Am Not a Serial Killer, John Wayne Cleaver saved his town from a murderer even more appalling than the serial killers he obsessively studies, using his own repressed homicidal proclivities to even the odds. But it turns out even demons have friends, and the disappearance of one has brought another to Clayton County. Soon there are new victims for John to work on at the mortuary, and a new mystery to solve. But this time something's different. John has tasted death, and the dark nature he used as a weaponthe terrifying persona he calls "Mr. Monster"might now be using him. No one in Clayton is safe unless John can vanquish two nightmarish adversaries: the unknown demon he must hunt, and the inner demon he can never escape.

He killed a cat. Killing adult humans doesn‘t bother me at all but animals are off limits.

I read the first book in this series several years ago as part of #whodunitthesequel. I was wondering what the next steps would be for John Wayne Cleaver, especially considering that his mother now knows what he‘s capable of doing. I‘m about halfway through this library book and I‘m trying to decide if I want to continue. John does something that is usually a full on stop for me. Maybe I‘ll read some more Dexter instead.

Working on finishing this one on our impromptu day off of work and school. Should be able to finish it up and start one of my books for the TBR and Beyond Group October Challenge.

Pickpick

I finally got my hands on the second book of the trilogy and it sustained it‘s gruesome, suspenseful style that I appreciated so much. My takeaway from the book and also one my favourite quote‘s is: “Humans are not defined by death, and they're not defined by what they lack. They're defined by their connections.”

🐈 dies. This deals with the fallout of the first book and you learn that maybe the demons aren‘t in his head.

Books 51 & 52 Of my year. The one on the left I am reading because I‘m super excited to finish the series and I just found all of the books at a used bookstore so yay. The one on the right I am reading in my chill little Bookclub so that should be fun. I don‘t usually like reading two books at once but here goes nothing guys 😆🤓📖

Caffeinated_Reader 😭😭😭 I can‘t find my book. The last time I had it was Friday 8-24-18 and I have torn the house apart and even dug through the trash can 😣 idk where the fuck it is and I am so angry 😤 6y
Caffeinated_Reader I found my book 😰 it was under my bed hidden by my sons hoodie 😑 6y
Caffeinated_Reader Dude!!! So much yes! I absolutely love John Cleaver. He‘s so badass and conflicted and brilliant. I can‘t wait to read book 3! 6y
