#123 of my year & I‘m on a roll again lol it helps that we are on break from zoom school 🥵 I absolutely love this series and have put off reading book 4 because I‘m not ready to let go of John Wayne Cleaver yet 😔 but I‘m excited to see how he‘s doing. #currentlyreading #thedevilsonlyfriend #johncleaverseries #bookfour oh also I‘m listening to A Little Messed Up by June 🖤

Caffeinated_Reader This was by far my favorite out of all of them. I love how badly John wants to understand himself and why he is the way he is. He is genuinely interested in why and how he became so detached and unanchored to the people in his life. Marci was a lighthouse for him although that ended tragically, so even when he found comfort it was short lived. 3y
Caffeinated_Reader Now that his team is gone and it‘s just Brooke and him against the Withered I wonder if he will build an unbreakable bond with her and finally accept that she loves him in her own way. I hope there‘s more books with them. 3y

Caffeinated_Reader Man, this made me want to fight or watch action movies all day lol I love that the pirate queen was so feared, but in the end it only takes one (or two) to defeat the enemy. Great start. I loved A Darker Shade of Magic with its multiple worlds and Magic‘s it was cool revisiting that. 3y

Caffeinated_Reader Wow that was exciting. I loved the language of the book and how proper everyone was. I sometimes wish I grew up back then when everyone dressed up and was so kind and intelligent with one another but yeah I would miss wearing pants too much without causing a scandal sooooo probably wouldn‘t last long back then lol I definitely want to read the rest of this series. It‘s so smart and well put together. 3y

Well I am about 6 books behind on my goodreads goal ? so I picked out these for my end of year binge read, it also includes my current book. So I‘ve gotta read allllll these before midnight Dec 31st. Next year I‘m setting my goal lower or not at all, I‘m kinda more stressed about it than I should be. Listening to Stars In The Sky by Phora (feat. Jhenè Aiko ✨

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick No one will judge you if you don't make your goal or decide to read graphic novels or kid's books to get there. 3y
Caffeinated_Reader @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick 😭 thank you. I didn‘t know how much I needed to hear that until just now. I put so much pressure on myself about this I forget it‘s supposed to be fun 🥵 thank you for the life jacket, I will look into graphic novels ASAP 🤩🤩🤩🤩 3y

#118 of my year and can I just say that if a new Michael Connelly can‘t pull me out of a depression slump I don‘t know what would! Let‘s see what Haller & Bosch get up to, I love when they work together. Also I‘m listening to Paper Birds (acoustic) Ekko & Sidetrack, Ruth Royall and also Off The Table Ariana Grande & The Weekend I couldn‘t pick which one I loved more so I put both lol 💛

CaffeineAndCandy ᴏᴏᴏᴏᴏʜ ᴄᴏᴍғʏ ❤❤❤ 3y
Caffeinated_Reader @CaffeineAndCandy definitely ❤️ before the chaos of the day begins hehe it‘s only 6:46am here in Cali, zoom meetings & life starts at 9 gotta enjoy while I can 🥵 3y
Caffeinated_Reader Holy fuck.
That was a mind fuck. Completely.
Why would you do that to Haller, Connelly? I hope that there isn‘t an alternate universe out there where he actually exists lmao because that was sooo much trial and tribulation for virtually nothing. The scariest thing is defending an innocent person. Connelly nailed it with this one.
3y
Caffeinated_Reader The up‘s were waaay up and the downs were bleak as fuck. My only complaint is that, in my opinion, Bosch would have come up with the winning knowledge of everything FBI related waaay before it actually came about. 3y
Caffeinated_Reader Although for all we know, Bosch could have been the one to slide the report under the door, or he could have been the one to persuade Ruth to. Either way this was another brilliant telling. I truly hope shit works out between Haller and mcfeirce! (edited) 3y

#117 of my year. This one is my most anticipated of the year and I can‘t wait to devour it. Here is my collection of V.E. Schwab and I can‘t wait to get her comic series and add all of her work to my home collection. Yes, she really is that magnificent to read and just as a human in general. I‘m listening to Hate The Way by G Easy, Blackbear 🖤🐻

Caffeinated_Reader 🙇🏻‍♀️ having such bad anxiety and depression...haven‘t picked this book back up in 2 days 😫 3y
Caffeinated_Reader First off I‘d like to say that although I was in a long bout of depression, I am glad I finally crawled out and finished this book. I think subconsciously I knew it was too heavy to read with everything else going on in my reality that even escaping into this story would still be an extension of that misery and woe. 3y
Caffeinated_Reader That being said...this story was heartbreaking and enlightening. The story may be all about remembering Addie...but man, how can we forget Henry? I felt so much connection to this character and his life between these pages read close to my own. 3y
Caffeinated_Reader I think Addie is great and cheeky and tragically wonderful...but Henry is where my heart was pulled to. From the moment he appears in the story I could tell he was going to leave a scar. My gosh what a scar! Highly recommend this story. 3y

Caffeinated_Reader Meh it was very cool to read about. The main character, El, was my favorite. The only irritating part was she tends to be in her own head so a lot of description and backstory while little dialogue between characters. Which I mean I can totally relate to lmao 4y

#103 of my year. I have seen a few reviews online about this one and am really excited to see what I think lol Listening to Forever (feat. Post Malone & Clever)Justin Bieber ♥️ outside time because it‘s finally cool enough, my boys and I are doing rain dances and constantly sending up rain prayers to the sky‘s hoping it can help the fires. This year just has to get better, it just has to 🌻🌨

Caffeinated_Reader Holy hell. That was the strangest and most interesting story I‘ve read, similar to House of Leaves. It was bizarre and uncomfortable at first, I had so much hate for Charlene because of what she did to Radar and after she finally came clean about it I just felt so bad for everyone. 4y
Caffeinated_Reader She set into motion so much insanity just with one choice, she couldn‘t possibly know things would end up the way they did but for me it felt like had she not chose to fly out & have Radar “cured” then Kermin wouldn‘t have had to build what he did and go down that path. Caffeinated_Reader That was one of the most well told stories I have read in a while. It was gut wrenching and uncomfortable. It was suspenseful and full of so many twists and turns. Toward the end I was left shocked and angry and heartbroken. I could have easily read this in one sitting if I had more time, it was that good of a story. 4y
Caffeinated_Reader I don‘t think I have been left as shocked as I was during the unmasking of Jenny‘s killer though. I was floored. Caffeinated_Reader 😭😭😭😭😭 that ending. This story was so good. It was full of humor and complicated characters and terrible situations. It was full of characters you couldn‘t help but love. It‘s very hard to imagine what living in the Elizabethan times must have been like, surviving was luck and natural selection I‘m sure. Shakespeare is a master writer and having read many of his plays, I found this book to be a must read for Shakespeare lovers. 4y

#89 of my year and this is an incredibly beautiful edition. I love the smell of this book so much it‘s almost too distracting lol listening to For You by Once A Tree 🕯

Caffeinated_Reader I was actually pretty scared reading this! I put myself in the mindset of a 7 year old with the story and with the illustrations...my goodness it was creepy in the best of ways. I highly recommend you read this and scare the crap out of your inner child 😆 I loved this story so much. It wasn‘t too far out there or childish. It was perfect. 4y

#88 of my year. This is book 2 and I can‘t wait to see how pissed Edan is going to be 😆 I‘ve missed these characters so much. Listening to My Future by Billie Eilish 🌻

Caffeinated_Reader This is such a beautiful story. Book 2 was brutal and bloody and so much happened. I learned in order to find your person that you‘re connected to, you must “Seize the wind, don‘t become the Kite that never flies.” 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫 I missed these characters so much. 4y

#87 of my year and this one I received from my Owlcrate subscription and put it on my bookshelf and forgot about it till now. I always feel like you read the books you‘re meant to, when you‘re meant to read them. Let‘s see if this resonates with me in the way I need atm. Listening to Wishing Well by Juice WRLD🌻

Caffeinated_Reader Such an awesome and heartbreaking tale. I love the story of the ferriers, so cool to think about. Not so much what they have to do on their right of passage night lol but everything else is very cool. I definitely look forward to the next book. 4y

Dark Tales | Shirley Jackson

#86 of my year. This is a new to me author and I have heard many great things about her masterful horror stories. Let‘s see if what they say is true 🧐

Caffeinated_Reader 3.5 stars. The stories were short and had the feel of camp fire stories you‘d tell around kids and old people. Not scary but easy to follow and read. Most made me chuckle but eh not a bad way to waist some time. 4y

#85 of my year. Listening to Falling in Reverse by Eden🌻

Caffeinated_Reader I‘m not sure how I feel about the ending. The journey getting there was slow paced and full of adventure but what it all lead to wasn‘t what I thought it would be. The whole thing was so much uncertainty and confusion, I felt bad for the characters lol Going on a mission that was vague and no one knew exactly what was supposed to happen. 4y
Caffeinated_Reader They were all so young too so it was hard to imagine the fate of the world resting in what a bunch of teenagers decided and figured out. Idk 4y

#84 of my year. Listening to Scars by Ondi Vil, Mishaal🌻

Caffeinated_Reader ‼️‼️‼️This book is horribly depressing. I got 150 pages in with several breaks in between and finally had to put it away. It‘s just very heavy and heartbreaking and just incredibly depressing. I don‘t recommend it but I will finish it because I‘m a masochist I guess lol 😰 (edited) 4y
Caffeinated_Reader This book was extremely depressing. Everyone is a mess and no one is happy, that‘s my takeaway from this one. Blah! I don‘t recommend 1.5 ⭐️ 4y

Missing You | Harlan Coben

#82 of my year. Harlan Coben is one of those authors that you can count on for a suspenseful story. I like his books and definitely have to work on getting more for my shelf space. Coffee, music, and reading type of life 🌻💛✨ I‘m listening to IDGAF by Besomorph, Silent Child

phantomx I've been tring to get into some of Harlan Coben's books. Is there one you highly recommend to read? 4y
Caffeinated_Reader @phantomx stay close was so worth the read. It will definitely get you hooked on his books. I read it a few years ago and really enjoyed it. 4y
Caffeinated_Reader Okay first of all this is now my absolute favorite Harlan Coben book. I can‘t tell you how thrilling and suspenseful and intense the story got. It was all so grabbing. I loved, absolutely loved, how the story ended. Oof! This book was a complete WIN. 4y

#81 of my year and I‘m digging the vibe of the story. “If I am not to be the shadow, I am nothing. I am tired of being nothing.” Same girl, same 🙃 gonna escape reality and dive heart first into this book 🤓💛🌻

Caffeinated_Reader Holy hell. That was such a gut wrenching story. I couldn‘t help but instantly feel for Sirscha, she was so beaten down by everyone and yet refused to be broken. I love her. The battle scenes were brutal, bloody, disgusting, and vivid. The whole story was epic. The ending will leave you speechless and wanting more! I can‘t wait for more to come. 4y
